The wide racial gap in health is growing in Chicago, a major new study has found.
..."What's happening is that, as advances become available for these different diseases, white people are able to gain access to advances, and black people are not," said Steven Whitman, director of the Sinai Urban Health Institute. "It's absolutely essential to understand the underlying structural issues that are causing these disparities: those are racism and poverty."

Since the CDC is trying to claim that gun violence is a healthcare issue, let’s add in the number of Chicago blacks who were killed by criminals in 2009. That should skew the “gap” between blacks and whites.
I want everyone to have decent healthcare. Let’s leave race out of it.

There’s a lot of that going on now. Now that we have America’s first black (at least half, anyway) President. Seems that the MSM is taking their comments and opinions more seriously......
Maybe healthcare for blacks in Chicago would have been better if Michelle Obama hadn’t patient dumped for the University of Chicago Medical Center so blacks had to travel a lot farther to get to an emergency room.

Although I’m not certain he coined the phrase, I know that Rush Limbaugh often repeats the thought “ignorance is the most expensive resource we have.” And you could explain a lot about different health outcomes in terms of ignorance. Obesity, diabetes, risky sexual behaviors, drug use, involvement in criminal activity, etc. etc. etc. - all have predictable impacts on health. Ignorance even impacts the decision on whether to spend money on health insurance for your family or buy a flat screen TV.

FYI: There actually is a huge difference in minority mortality. A recent 20 year longitudinal study recorded 20 times greater early cardiac mortality in blacks over whites.
The real crime is that the solution is so simple: it’s all about vitamin d3 deficiency in people of color at higher latitudes.
