Breaking: Iran Test-Fires Long-Range Missile
Fox News ^ | 12/16/2009 | Fox News

The report described the launch of an "improved Sejil 2 missile" as successful and said the missile had a range greater than 1,250 miles — putting Israel and U.S. bases in the Gulf within reach. The launch came after Israel's military intelligence chief said Tuesday that Iran is close to a "technological breakthrough" that would enable it to build nuclear weapons. Maj. Gen. Amos Yadlin said Iran has enough nuclear material for a warhead and is close to being able to build one. He didn't specify the new technology or say when he expects Iran to reach such a capability. The assessment, made in a speech, matched similar observations Yadlin has given in closed briefings to Israeli leaders. However, he rarely speaks in public, and the comments reflected Israel's deep concerns about Iran. Israel and many Western countries believe Iran is racing to develop a nuclear weapons program. Iran says its nuclear program is strictly for energy production. The U.S. and Israel have not ruled out a military strike on Iran if diplomacy over the atomic program fails. Iran has vowed to retaliate for any attack.

“Report: Iran test-fires improved Sejil 2 missile”

SNIPPET: “Islamic republic’s Arabic-language satellite television says tested missile has longer range than Shahab, which Iranian officials have said can reach targets 2,000 kilometers away, putting Israel and US bases in Gulf within reach”

Reuters
Published: 12.16.09, 09:55 / Israel News

SNIPPET: “Iran has successfully test-fired a long-range, improved Sejil 2 missile, state television reported on Wednesday, an announcement likely to add to tension with the West.

Al-Alam, Iran’s Arabic-language satellite television, said the Sejil missile had a longer range than the Shahab missile, which Iranian officials in the past have said can reach targets 2,000 kilometers (1,250 miles) away.

That would put Israel and US bases in the Gulf within reach.”

Meanwhile, back at home, Obeyme is closing Guantanamo:

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=CNG.3b306542e31038bc3638f8b13efec9ae.7b1&show_article=1

Listen to how delusional these people are:

“Closing the detention center at Guantanamo is essential to protecting our national security and helping our troops by removing a deadly recruiting tool from the hands of al Qaeda,” the same official added, noting: “Today’s announcement is an important step forward as we work to achieve our national security objectives.”

OMG! I’m amazed these people actually were able to contort a rationalization as far-fetched as this??

The next step is miniaturizing the warhead, if they have not already done that.

Obama has real issues to deal with right now like flying to Copenhagen, closing Offutt Air Force Base, and grading himself. This Iranian missile test is just a distraction from this historic solid B+ presidential performance.

“Test-Fires Long-Range Missile”

So what - wait until they have a nuke to put on it?

At least this shows they do not seek the war with Israel, as some have postulated.
