A Taunton father is furious his eight-year-old son was sent home from school and required to undergo a psychological evaluation after he drew a stick-figure picture of Jesus Christ on the cross.
The father, who wants his name withheld to protect his son, told the Taunton Gazette he got a call earlier this month from the Maxham Elementary School.
They told him his son, a second-grader with special needs, had created a violent drawing.
It started when his teacher asked the class to sketch something that reminded them of Christmas.
The boy drew a crucified Jesus with X's covering his eyes to signify that he had died on the cross.

If he had drawn a picture of someone riding a white horse jumping off a big rock on the Temple Mount and up to Heaven, he would be in even bigger trouble.
OK
It seems the teacher and principal need a conference on Christianity. They need to learn about Christian symbols and their meaning so that they can be inclusive and support students coming from a Christian heritage. (not sarcasm)
When our grandson was in the 2nd grade he was telling his friends (at recess) how he and his Dad had gone hunting over the weekend.
A teacher overheard the conversation and he was sent to the principal's office. Luckily, he wasn't suspended...only lectured. Found out later that had he drawn a PICTURE of a gun, he would've been.
I did a more sophisticated drawing of Calvary in 4th or 5th grade with all three crosses and a slight misquote of Luke 23:43. (I used “tomorrow” instead of “today”.) I guess I would be arrested 47 years later in today’s hostile environment.
Now that’s funny...Don’t care who ya are... that’s funny

Yes, why do we never, ever hear of “sensitivity training” and educational sessions for those who offend Christians? Why is it okay to attack a child and possibly scar him for life if that child is a Christian? The PC crowd will have people fired and sent to sensitivity training who use words like “niggardly”, the meaning of which has nothing to do with a racial epithet. But they will justify the overreaction because the word is close to the epithet and someone may have been “offended”. Truly some animals are more equal than others.
One day the school called me in. The wanted my son to face punishment for drawings that they considered “disturbing”. My son was extremely upset. While the principal and counselor were trying to tell me that my son needed counseling and they were worried for his mental health, I look at the pictures. I told them flat out they were not his. They did not believe me at first. Then I asked my son, “Whose drawings are they?” My son replied that they were some other boys, that they had been put in his cubby by accident along with other items of the boy. I turned to the teacher, counselor and principal and asked, “You did not even ask my son if these were his? That’s the first thing you should have done.” On closer examination the handwriting did not match with my son’s. We got no apology, nothing for the crap we went through that afternoon. Just a weak, you’re not in trouble go back to class.
My son is no longer in the public school system and we are thrilled. In fact we are busy celebrating CHRISTMAS this week at his school.
The boy should have written another tribute song to the Messiah of the public education system, aka, Barack Obama. Christmas has of course been moved to August 4.
Please insert that sarcasm picture here. Thank you.
Man, I would have been sent home a lot in todays schools. We drew nothing but battle scenes with bunkers, tanks, airplanes and lots of explosions. We took extra efforts to depict horrible and violent deaths by explosions. Wonder what today’s touchy feely types would have done to us. Remember, my cohort were the sons of WWII and Korean vets. One of our favorite past times was playing war.
Could you narrow this down to which continent it might be on, please?

Had the young lad included the now-obligatory urine, he would be hailed as a “prodigy”.
go figure.
It’s crazy times we’re living in.
...required to undergo a psychological evaluation?...
Each day brings new wonders for me to ponder in public education just knowing much of my tax dollars are being spent promoting a socialist/atheist hate America agenda. It’s a complete pile of steaming s@#%!
“If the boy were lets just say a muslim and he drew a person with a bomb strapped to their chest screaming allah mumbo jumbo crap.....no one would DARE peep a word about it.”
Except CAIR maybe for “sterotyping” and “hate crimes”. (sort of sarcasm but they’d probably really do that, as well as call for riots in the streets)
Too bad, if he were to draw a picture of infidels being beheaded he would have been promoted to major.
