Speaker Pelosi named finalist for Time magazine 'Person of the Year' By Jordan Fabian - 12/14/09 05:21 PM ET
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is among the seven finalists chosen for Time magazine's annual "Person of the Year," according to media reports on Monday.
Other finalists in the realm of politics include last year's winner President Barack Obama, Afghanistan commanding Gen. Stanley McChrystal and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke.
"Look, she's the first woman Speaker of the House. She's the strongest Speaker of the House in decades," Time managing editor Richard Stengel said of Pelosi on NBC's "Today" show. "She had piloted what is probably the most important legislation in decades through the House. She's a really, really pivotal lawmaker."
Apple CEO Steve Jobs and Jamaican sprinter and Olympic Gold Medalist Usain Bolt are also included as finalists.
Another finalist is the "Chinese worker," which the magazine said has become an influential international economic power.
The award is given to an individual who has achieved a notable accomplishment in the past year. Time's editors will name the winner on Wednesday.
Every U.S. president has won the award since Time launched the tradition in 1927, with the exceptions of Calvin Coolidge, Herbert Hoover and Gerald Ford. President George W. Bush won it it 2000 and 2004 following both of his electoral victories.

Speaker Pelosi named finalist for Time magazine 'Person of the Year' What's a Time Magazine? Never heard of it.........
Of course you have heard of "Time Magazine's Person of the Year." It is the American Version of the Nobel Prize. With a few exceptions, these filthy radical liberals have grabbed control of the world media.

Time mag died when it was sold to Warner by the Luce's in the mid 80’s. I canceled my subscription then.

If she had been voted “Witch of the Decade”, I would be in complete agreement.

They should go back to the old name: “Man of the Year.”

Time edit guys have a penchant for "strong women," aka femdoms. Stengel reminds us you can't have a circle jerk without a pivot man.

Time has to make money somehow. Since no one is buying their main publications, they put out a special about someone who sells, and sells big, like Sarah Palin.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs and Jamaican sprinter and Olympic Gold Medalist Usain Bolt are also included as finalists. Well, at least Bolt did something this year. But why not Caster Semenya for "Person of the Year." She (or he) would fit in well with the Time team.

Hitler and Stalin have both been Times Man of the Year.
Incredible, isn't it?
And we wonder why over 40% still approve of obozo.

"Remember the trouble in 2001 when they wanted to name Bin Laden?" Hitler was named in '38, Khomenei in '78 or '79 and Stalin I believe was named POY twice. It doesn't have to be good person, at all.
To: OldDeckHand
It doesn't have to be good person, at all. That explains Pelosi as a finalist.

Those news magazines are irrelevant and expensive and just sit and sit on the store shelves. They must just dump the rest.
