I understand. I work with professionals here in the DFW area. We work in the healthcare administrative sector. They didn’t know the Teaparty protests even tool place. Nor did they know about Climategate.

They will look stuff up when I tell them or send it to them (sometimes). One of them chooses not to know.

They have labeled me the residentconsipacy theorist.

It’s amazing how the people who only watch MSM are brainwashed.

Dude, I sooo sympathise. I was raised in Marin County, the point of origin for the term “yuppie” and “I want it all now”. Marinoids live on latte, hot tubbing and forays to Trader Joes. The sleepy villages of Marin were invaded by a mass migration of hippies from San Francisco in the post-flower power years and basically had their brains turned to oatmeal mush with crystals, yoga, fad gurus, anti-mucous diets, high colonic therapy, foot massage phrenology, and rampant other-directed self image pop-psychologies. The only sane people left there are the dairy farmers who have responsibilities and work hard.

Perhaps it’s time to start asking the libs the famous Katie Couric question, “What newspapers and magazines do you read?”

Lately most of the “libs” I deal with have been very quiet when it comes to politics. In the past they always liked to make sweeping commentaries, even if the topic wasn’t political. Even my mum who actually campaigned for Obama, doesn’t bring him up. I’ve come to the conclusion, at least with lefties who follow the news...there’s really nothing for them to say.
I’m looking forward to a wonderful Christmas, with NO political commentary lol I don’t even feel the need to say anything...I can just smugly grin :)

I did come away from the dinner with a bottle of absinthe from my freshly minted sister in law.

It’s 132 proof. Instructions say DO NOT DRINK STRAIGHT. But then again, instructions are more like suggestions.

I agree we must engage every chance we get. It is very difficult with the oldsters. They still have an FDR vision of the Democrat party—he “saved” them from the depression and lead them thru WWII. And in the Chicago area, they fondly remember King Richard the First, Da Mare of Chicago. Most of the oldsters I know have no computer knowledge, thus they get their “news” from newspapers and tv. The good news is I’ve seen some change lately, they have a vague feeling that Obama and Congress are somehow messing with their Medicare. I try to focus my energy on the young. They are getting their re-education in our government run schools and thru the mass media, but have easy access to information on the internet if told where to look.

“I won’t change. I’m a social worker, you know.”

Translation: If I REALLY thought about what I do for a living, I’d have to admit that I’m stealing the taxpayers’ money. Not that that’s a problem...it’s just that what I claim to be doing makes absolutely NO DIFFERENCE in the lives of the people I purport to help. And admitting that would be really, really bad for my self-esteem.

I have a niece who is a big player in the green movement. I had quite the run in with her (and her family) last year. I asked her a simple question: "If global warming is so real, and the stakes are so high, why do people who believe in the green movement live in those big houses, why do they own an SUV, or any kind of car, and why don't they change their lifestlyes to help the problem?"

I thought it was kind of innocuous as a question, but she immediately demanded to know why I was attacking her........

Full disclosure, I'm one of the few people who know she doesn't really live the alternative lifestyle she proclaims in her books.

They do! A woman writer friend who is smart wrote me a long e-mail about how NPR only reports the news without a political slant. And that Mara Liaison should have known that before she allowed herself to be used by Fox News.

I didn’t bother replying. What’s the use?

The only thing I miss is Mt. Tamalpais and Lake Lagunitas. Petaluma is a vast improvement, were the Prius has to share the road with hot rods and pickup trucks.

I followed much the same path. Election Night 1994 surely ranks in my “Top 25 Greatest Days of My Life”. I voted for Bill (and Hillary!) in 1992...partly because I did do plenty of reading of major newspapers. The portrait they painted was one of two brainiacs saving the folks of Arkansas from their ignorance.

I'm just glad Clinton did not carry Texas in 1992. Even though I contributed to his vote total, I did not really help elect him.

Simple. Libs love telling other people how to live their lives, I call it the “hall monitor mentality.” None of them can stand being called on their own BS.

Think of how much more “Fair and Balanced” liberals will think the network news is when they get a bailout from the dems.

I have several Very liberal friends that I exchange e-mail rants with. Sometimes I am confronted with an obvious irrational bias of opinion. When this happens I flood them with an overwhelming tsunami of information with embedded links, quotes and my own commentary, with the suggestion that they pull their heads out and do their own research. I consider it tough love.

The “follow the money” approach is very effective in some cases. Recently, I verbally beat up a died in the wool disciple of global warming with the Ken Lay connection and worked in the GE and Goldman Sachs angle. This hit him close to home as he is a “big business” hater since his wife, who worked for Arthur Anderson lost her well paid job as a result of the Enron collapse. I then followed it up with some Al Gore quotes especially the one about the earth’s core temperature, and of course the “climate gate” scandal.

Another liberal friend of mine was ranting about the “military industrial complex” he is ex military, but has Bush derangement syndrome. He was silenced by a reminder of all the good things the “MIC” has brought us. I sent him a short list that included things like: The wheel, The Interstate highway system, transistors, semiconductors, computers, The internet, microwaves, radar, sonar, aviation (especially helicopters),many advancements in trauma surgery and medical procedures, anything with a laser, nuclear energy, space program, satellite TV / communications, Polypropylene underwear, Kevlar, Silly putty, paint ball, M&M’s, synthetic fuel, flu shots, cell phones and a million other things. I then reminded him that it is us, we are it. It has made us what we are and he is part of the problem. That shut him up.

As far as Sarah Palin is concerned, I think her detractors feel inferior and it is natural for some to attack the things that make them look (or feel) bad in comparison. These are basically un happy people and can’t be helped by any amount of reason.
I would suggest you simply remind them of the way Sarah has worked hard from humble roots and been successful in business, family and politics. Then ask them what they have achieved and leave it at that. Let them simmer in their own juices and then move on.

I won’t let them win. If you can’t reason with and or educate them, embarrass them, they’ll get over it, and if not, good riddance.

There were two “good reasons” (according to the fem-left) to have abortions, and Sarah & Bristol chose life both times.

What's more, they KNOW that the choice she made in both cases was morally superior to what they would have chosen, and they DESPISE her for "shoving that in their faces".

Heb 8:10 "I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts."
