My dinner with a brainless liberal last night.
rant vanity | 12/14/2009 | GunsAndBibles

I don’t travel in liberal circles much, so last night was a real eye-opener as to how much this country is in deep doo-doo.

I went to my brother’s house (Marin County, CA) for our family’s annual Dungeness crab feast. It’s no secret in my family that my political position is hard starboard at flank speed, so out of deference to the occasion I made a personal vow not to steer the conversation to current events.

Alas, my best intentions were scuttled by my brother’s neighbor lady let slip a snarky comment about Sarah Palin not believing in global warming.

I hinted that the NYT might be slightly biased, and suggested for
a start that she check the BBC (I didn’t want her head to explode)
and the Washington Times.

Good thing The Telegraph (of England) wasn't mentioned.
Some of their exposes would not just make the lady's head explode.
Her whole body might just go up in one bright flash of spontaneous combustion.

It was The Telegraph (in it's early Internet version) that kept
many folks in the USA actually informed on what Bill Clinton
was doing to us.

(Which now almost fades into the background, given the machinations
of Obama and His Chicago Gang.)

I've walked away from conversations because it's just so hopeless. The top three quotes by dumb liberals right to my face, that I had to walk away from:

  1. "I thought the story for The Da Vinci Code was dopey, but I loved learning all that history."
  2. "I really don't see any bias on MSNBC."
  3. "I've never even met anybody as smart as Barrack Obama."

All actual quotes from actual liberals I know. You can't fix people who say such things. Save your breath.

A co-worker friend of mine repeated, on various occasions, that Sarah Palin "scares" him. I let it go for several months, and finally I asked why. He couldn't give me a good answer, except something about her lack of experience. I then replied, "So you're OK with Obama's lack of experience, but Palin's lack of experience scares you? That makes no sense." He acknowledged my point and dropped the subject.

There's probably something else there that he doesn't want to admit to, I just don't know what...Maybe he thinks she can't govern because she's pretty, or because she's from Alaska, or because she's folksy, or pro-life...who knows.

“Over Christmas, we will all have to engage the known liberals in our families, because the future of America depends on it.”

Well, maybe not all of us. Mom used to be a lib. She’s now the most conservative of the whole family. So conversions do happen. (Side note: Carter - and the real-world impact of his leftism - turned her.)

Then again, most of the family live in Texas...

In 1982, Marin was cut off from the rest of the bay due to
flooding and mud slides, and during the ensuing three-four
days of isolation, the food stores were literally gutted
by frantic Marinite social queens. I watched women in furs
trading blows to get the last of the toilet paper. One of
the reasons we bailed out in ‘95.

I didn’t even get to ask her my qualifying question that I use to determine if these green-bots are even worth talking to.

I simply ask them if they know what percentage of the atmosphere is CO2. I get answers of up to 70%

The actual number is less than 4/100 of 1 percent.

I ask the polar bear people this question:

Polar bears are omnivorous, they will eat anything. But they don’t eat penguins. Why?

“I worked with a number of Ph.D’s. They are all libs...”

My husband has a PhD in Physics. He is ULTRA conservative and signed the doc refuting global warming. PhDs in the hard sciences generally laugh their asses off at the guys who have PhDs in happy horsesh!t disciplines.

LOL. No, as in “has something on her.”

Heh. I figured STD at first myself. Or that he’s gonna say he caught a case of crabs from Bristol.

I actually voted democrat through 1992. Yes, I voted for B.J. Clinton!
By 1994, I was a proud voter for the Contact with America...

I followed much the same path.
Election Night 1994 surely ranks in my “Top 25 Greatest Days of My Life”.
I voted for Bill (and Hillary!) in 1994...partly because I did do
plenty of reading of major newspapers. The portrait they painted was
one of two brainiacs saving the folks of Arkansas from their ignorance.

And being from Oklahoma, I thought...maybe this Clinton guy and Al Gore
are going to, in some sense, show folks that not all Southerners are rubes.

As soon as Bill went through the sloppy construction of “Don’t Ask,
Don’t Tell”, I got buyer’s remorse.
And if polling data is accurate, it was just like the fair number of
folks that voted for Obama (and/or “hope and change”).

Live and learn.
Thank G-d we live in a country that allows for recovery (self-correction)
from disasterous choices.

Yeah, I’ve gotten that part for a long time. It infuriates them that she waks the walk when it comes to abortion. There were two “good reasons” (according to the fem-left) to have abortions, and Sarah & Bristol chose life both times. That’s why they don’t care if Bristol or the baby are hurt in the process.

For the most part, these people are wired differently. There will be occasional conversions, but perhaps only after it comes home to roost for them. Other than that, they do not want their life disrupted, and especially by something so devastating as what is happening now. It is beyond their understanding, and scary. It is these same people who are the problem. They are in my family as well.

“I cut her slack because of her age.”

My MIL is 92, voted for Obama, and hates Palin. I cut her NO SLACK WHATSOEVER. Her mind is sharp (except for that pesky voting issue) so she had the capacity to make good decisions after learning the truth, especially when it was provided to her often. She chose not to.

Now that Hussein has cut the defense budget, DH’s job has been negatively impacted, and we’re planning to relocate to where there are better options for work. MIL will whine that that we’re leaving. (God forbid — we won’t be able to jump every time she needs someone to bring her a jar of pickles!) But, “Hey, Baby; you voted for this jerk whose hatred of America makes it necessary for us to leave. Deal with it.”

OK; I’m done.

Agree wholeheartedly! Never give anyone a pass no matter who they are. The lies must be dealt with head-on. Especially the mis(un)informed matriarchs and patriarchs.

Like I said, I didn’t want her head to explode. Suppose I had suggested Canada Free Press; they’d have to take her away in a straight jacket when her world imploded.

I agree. Baby steps are required to open the eyes of the willfully blind. I don't have the patience anymore and am just buying ammo.
