A Republican senator said Sunday he has no problem letting Democrats "off the hook" of voter anger over the deficit if it means passage of a commission to come up with ways to reduce long-term debt. That the job we pay YOU to do Senator.

I am not sure any GOP Senator has the ability to let any one ‘off the hook’ when it comes to the voters anger with BOTH the Dems AND the GOP...

Moron...
You cannot let someone off the hook when you do not have the power to do so in the first place.

Appointing “commissions”, or “study groups”, or “blue ribbon panels” is nothing more than cowardice. They serve no other purpose than providing political cover. Most of the time they produce nothing but vaporware. On the odd chance that a “commission”might come up with a good idea, it still has to be voted on and implemented, and the chances of that in the current political climate are next to nothing.

No context given in this article.
The exact question posed to Gregg is not even mentioned.

This is the bull that the Brookings Institute came up with, it is a liberal’s dream.
The Constitution should be our guide, the Federal Government shouldn’t be doing 75% of the crap they are doing.

Yes, let them off the hook, Mr Gregg. But be aware that if the Dems do well in the 2010 off-terms, conservatives may have lost their last chance to derail the insane tax-and spend-libs before they socialize and bankrupt this country.

“...passage of a commission to come up with ways to reduce long-term debt.”
Any member of Congress who really believes that a (probably) toothless commission would have their debt reducton ideas adopted is...well, they’re highly deluded.
To: blueyon
What a moron this man is.
To reduce our debt all they have to do is STOP SPENDING OUR MONEY!
They have an addiction to spending and since it is not theirs they have no conscience about not stopping.
This kind of spending is the same as the mental problem some people have where they spend whether or not they have the funds or the need.
