See Sarah Palin out Shatner William Shatner on Tonight Show.
Enterainment Weekly ^ | 12/11/09 | Ken Tucker

Sarah Palin made a surprise visit to The Tonight Show, proving she can read from a book at least as dramatically as William Shatner can. Conan O’Brien had Shatner on to do one of his periodic readings, this time from Palin’s bestseller Going Rogue. Then to the delighted screams of the audience, Palin came out and read excerpts from one of Shatner’s autobiographies, Up Till Now: http://watching-tv.ew.com/2009/12/11/sarah-palin-the-tonight-show/

Good to see the whole clip.

Someone else posted a thread with just the Palin portion.

Fox&Friends ran a clip, but the mouths-on-the-curvy-couch had to talk over it while it was playing.

At first, Shatner kept staring. I think he thought it was a prank with Tina Fey. Then he realized it actually was Sarah Palin.

Way to go Sarah! It sounds like she had quite a few supporters in the audience.

When faced with lame jokes about SP or the real thing the audience chose Sarah.

Even funnier....would be Sarah reading quotes from Obama’s book!

I had heard there were a bunch of “Wounded Warriors” families in the audience due to the auction of her jacket (which she was wearing). I doubt it was the usual audience of nitwits that Conan draws. I’ll also bet this show give him his biggest ratings in a long time, even though word of her appearance only leaked out hours before the show.

I bet these ratings get sku’d or we don’t here about them so we don’t embarass David Littleman....

The best part is I like both Shatner and Palin. I even like Conan and Andy come to think of it.

This was the first and possibly the only time I have ever watched this show.

If Sarah is a guest I had to see it, same thing with SNL.

I didn’t realize she had such a great sense of humor! The line about all animals having a place....right next to the mashed potatoes, was genius. When she got on she lit up the stage. Good for her!

I think Shatner was genuinely surprised to see her. If not, he's a much better actor than I thought.

It’s Shatner a Libertarian/Conservatarian?

There were plenty of libs in the crowd...during Conan's monologue; he related some story that smacked of bias toward gays, and boos came from the crowd...I doubt that was coming from the 'Wounded Warriors' families.

That kind of appearance, where she can be seen as “real” by the Great Unwashed, does more for her than almost anything else.

Remember, it’s the GW that decides elections.

She did a much better job than Shatner. The excerpt she did was longer, more expressive, - and memorized! She did a very good job.
