Free Republic is a fringe right-wing Christian fundamentalist site

Free Republic is a fringe right-wing Christian fundamentalist site... or so they say... and they might even be right.

We don't go for any of that godless left-wing big government socialist malarkey. And we do put our faith and trust in God, not government. We are pro-God, pro-Life, pro-Family, pro-Country and pro-Liberty.

We do not believe that government or science knows what's best for us or our children. We will make our own decisions thank you very much.

Every once in a while some group of posters get together and try to bend Free Republic to their will. Now, we tend to be pretty free-wheeling around here and will take a lot of guff and a lot of obnoxious insults from a lot of people, but eventually a breaking point is reached.

For example, when a group of RINO lovers recently banded together to try to force FR to accept an abortionist/gay rights RINO as our presidential candidate, they soon found themselves on the outs.

And a few years ago a group of evolutionists tried to force FR over to their way of thinking and they soon found themselves on the outs.

FR is a pro-God, pro-Creator, pro-Life, pro-Liberty site.

And now we have yet another group of Darwinists trying to have their Darwinist way with us. Well, as I've said before what doesn't kill us will only make us stronger.

Darwin Central has again declared war on FR. They have ping lists and email lists and will try to pull away as many FReepers as they possibly can. So be it. Those who would rather go with Darwin, please go. I sure as hell won't try to stop you.

FR will remain a pro-God, pro-Life, pro-Liberty, pro-Creator conservative site.

We wholeheartedly believe that our unalienable rights are a gift from God our Creator not from man or government. And no man, no government will ever deprive us of same.

Keep your powder dry.

lol. I get such a kick out of this whole “global warming” thing. Remember back in the 1970’s when we were told there was a “new Ice Age” coming?

The adoption of a word, concept, myth, or fable to help explain or communicate an idea isn't worship

Well yes it is. Take for example that Jeremiah had to contend with the Israelites' worship of the Canaanite goddess Astarte/Ashtoreth as the Queen of Heaven. Here was the idea that there was a "Queen of Heaven" whom they could bake little cakes to, and pray to and worship. This myth was a new idea, namely that she had some influence with God and/or was equal to Him. So she would plead their cause. There is nothing like this in Judaism. When asked why they didn't cease their worship, theie answer was "tradition" and "it feels good". And that's just one idea, myth, concept they got from their neighbors

We celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ at this time of year in our church, and in our homes and lives. We know the difference. Some of the family celebrate the Jewish holiday that also falls at this time of year. As Americans, we have no problem celebrating the American secular holiday. No Christians I know, or Jewish people either, sacrifice to any old Roman gods. The cookies in the oven don't get offered up to the queen of heaven and the sparkling cider doesn't get poured on the hearth.

Going back to the idea of evolution-- it's basic premise is that life originated independently of God, period. It promotes atheism and is adamantly against any idea of a Creator God. Some people want to sugar coat it as the way that God created and then they feel all warm and fuzzy, that they're not atheists. They can be luke warm but the Lord has an answer for that.

Then let me repeat; Many, including major religious authorities do not hold that evolution is incompatible with Christianity and does not undermine Church authority.

Then let me repeat; many, who are not major religious authorities, but pretend to speak authoritatively for Science, do believe that evolution not only undermines the authority of the Catholic Church, but all of Christianity and, more than that, proves that no god exists. All this in gross defiance of the most basic tenets of the very Science they pretend to uphold.

It’s true that Pope Benedict XVI has declared Evolution not to be incompatible with Christianity and that it does not undermine Church authority. He has gone on to observe that evolution does not answer the great central philosophical question: “Where does everything come from?” That’s a question that Darwinian thought cannot answer (by its own definition), but it goes to the very core of Creationism, a fundamental tenet of Judeo-Christian tradition. Pope Benedict is not the problem. Nor are other Judeo-Christian ‘authorities’ the problem, not to mention everyday Jews and Christians (including “Fundies”). It’s those who believe Science is a philosophical system, indeed a veritable religion, and not the superior fact-finding methodology it is, who are the problem. Go straighten them out.

To take your argument to its conclusion would be to assert that the Catholic Church's acceptance of Theistic Evolution is the endorsement of a different religion. That is absurd.

That you have to take what I say and recast it to the point that you’ve turned it on its head is what’s absurd. Go back to DC and tell ‘em what you’re doing ain’t working.

Interesting picture.

I think I see a bit of fur, perhaps just a follicle or two, from a leopard’s pelt sticking out of the snow in the middle of Africa there.

Some mountain, perhaps?

They are already predicting the end of the world for 2012, it will probably be blamed on the right.

“World ends - women and children hardest hit”.
