Free Republic is a fringe right-wing Christian fundamentalist site... or so they say... and they might even be right.
We don't go for any of that godless left-wing big government socialist malarkey. And we do put our faith and trust in God, not government. We are pro-God, pro-Life, pro-Family, pro-Country and pro-Liberty.
We do not believe that government or science knows what's best for us or our children. We will make our own decisions thank you very much.
Every once in a while some group of posters get together and try to bend Free Republic to their will. Now, we tend to be pretty free-wheeling around here and will take a lot of guff and a lot of obnoxious insults from a lot of people, but eventually a breaking point is reached.
For example, when a group of RINO lovers recently banded together to try to force FR to accept an abortionist/gay rights RINO as our presidential candidate, they soon found themselves on the outs.
And a few years ago a group of evolutionists tried to force FR over to their way of thinking and they soon found themselves on the outs.
FR is a pro-God, pro-Creator, pro-Life, pro-Liberty site.
And now we have yet another group of Darwinists trying to have their Darwinist way with us. Well, as I've said before what doesn't kill us will only make us stronger.
Darwin Central has again declared war on FR. They have ping lists and email lists and will try to pull away as many FReepers as they possibly can. So be it. Those who would rather go with Darwin, please go. I sure as hell won't try to stop you.
FR will remain a pro-God, pro-Life, pro-Liberty, pro-Creator conservative site.
We wholeheartedly believe that our unalienable rights are a gift from God our Creator not from man or government. And no man, no government will ever deprive us of same.
Keep your powder dry.
Has more to do with goats, actually.

Morality has deterirated drastically in this country because of the leftward drift away from fundamental principles in both religion and in politics that are not based on fundamental biblical or constitutional precepts and principles!!!
Everything from citizenship to just plain patriotism and the "Bill of Rights" has become drastically devalued by every increase in flexibility and each rationalization caused by fear of maginalization, or loss of status, class or influence by holding to fundamentals!!!
"We hold these truths to be self evident" is fundamentalism in it's most fundamental form and is the sole property of conservatives who wish nothing with more vigor than to "conserve" the fundamental nature of our vision of the proper role of government, of, for and by "the people!"
I haven't read the thread, but that pejoritive comment about being "fundamentalist" just triggered this passionate outburst! I don't mean it as a retaliatory strike, but am simply expressing my shock at the idea of once again dissing any of us FReepers as fundamentalists, christian, or otherwise... Now I'll go read the thread and hope I haven't embarressed myself!!!
To believe one species can become another species doesn't make sense to me. The only way a mule can come into existence is paired with a donkey and horse, then you have a different species that 99% of the time is sterile, a hybrid. Those kind of matings bring about a different species, it doesn't happen via isolation... (does this make sense to anyone)
Note my comment just above.
And then there are horses and donkeys, which have speciated to the extent that they can no longer interbreed to produce *fertile* offspring, but not so far that they can’t still produce *viable* offspring.
Amen Jim as a famous person once said...
“People who like this sort of thing will find this sort of thing they like”
I am Jim Thompson...
Most sites/books that refer to his adventures there all state "by common agreement of observers ~ or some such ~ there are 13 different species of Darwin's finches ~ give or take 2 or 3" ~ which means that even now "they don't know".
I'm sure we could do some in vitro and cross-breed almost all of them. There's more to life than beak size and shape after all!
Yeah, I know a guy who uses it as a tagline. ;-)
Well I am not religious but am also not an atheist. I am a believer in science and in evolution as well.
But I also respect the beliefs of those who are religious and I believe that this country was founded on Christian values that are fundamental to our future success. As a lapsed Catholic, I find that my attitudes and values still reflect much of what I was taught when I was kid (whether I like it or not).
I am mostly socially conservative, but I do have a gay family member, which affects my views on that issue. I am as conservative as one can possibly be when it comes to ecoonomic and foreign policy issues.
Although I am not perfectly in tune with many of the posters here, I have been coming to this site for at least the last 10 years and it is usually the first place I go when I want the conservative view point from as many different sources as possible.
Even though I don’t agree with some of the view points here, I typically don’t try to change someone else’s mind because one of the great strengths of this country is the freedom to have differing opinions and the ability to express them. And I think that even though most people here, for example, don’t believe in evolution, unlike democrats, most of those people wouldn’t try to force their views onto other people.
I would just ask everyone here to work as hard as possible to get the most conservative candidates as possible for upcoming elections - even to the point of threatening to not vote for a RINO who is not socially conservative enough. But for the love of God, please get out and vote AGAINST Obama when the time comes.
All politicians like to say that “this election” is the most important of our life time. Its true this time.
LOL that’s a huge leap. I don’t think Jim meant you couldn’t believe in it. But,
Do you fit in this group:
“Darwin Central has again declared war on FR. They have ping lists and email lists and will try to pull away as many FReepers as they possibly can. So be it. Those who would rather go with Darwin, please go. I sure as hell won’t try to stop you.”
Then you might have a problem.
And if broken glass republican means protecting preborn babies from murder, protecting the sanctity of marriage between a man and woman, limited government and an ability to create wealth without over regulation, then I’m in.
About climate gate? Isn’t everyone against cap and trade?
welcome brother...
Ordinarily I'd just ignore your comment and go on, but you can't call me a liar and get away with it.
And this proves...?
You took the words right out of my mouth.
I, too, practice a non-mainstream religion, but have always felt welcome here. Aside from a few folks who've given me grief over it, most Freepers have allowed me to just "be" with my chosen faith.
Thanks for saying that for both of us.
Not anymore. For reasons that elude me, the trend today among the "biology" establishment is to push headlong and recklessly into species splitting -- as opposed to species lumping.
Case in point: the marsh wren. The ornithological community seems hellbent on splitting it into two species, even though the two main subspecies FREELY interbreed and produce viable offspring.
Another factoid: Explain to me why the blue-winged teal and the cinammon teal are 100% DNA-matched, yet are two separate "species."
Right now, it's a splitter's world, and I don't understand why.
And it’s just as true now as the day it was written!
