Free Republic is a fringe right-wing Christian fundamentalist site
12/11/2009 | Jim Robinson

Free Republic is a fringe right-wing Christian fundamentalist site... or so they say... and they might even be right.

We don't go for any of that godless left-wing big government socialist malarkey. And we do put our faith and trust in God, not government. We are pro-God, pro-Life, pro-Family, pro-Country and pro-Liberty.

We do not believe that government or science knows what's best for us or our children. We will make our own decisions thank you very much.

Every once in a while some group of posters get together and try to bend Free Republic to their will. Now, we tend to be pretty free-wheeling around here and will take a lot of guff and a lot of obnoxious insults from a lot of people, but eventually a breaking point is reached.

For example, when a group of RINO lovers recently banded together to try to force FR to accept an abortionist/gay rights RINO as our presidential candidate, they soon found themselves on the outs.

And a few years ago a group of evolutionists tried to force FR over to their way of thinking and they soon found themselves on the outs.

FR is a pro-God, pro-Creator, pro-Life, pro-Liberty site.

And now we have yet another group of Darwinists trying to have their Darwinist way with us. Well, as I've said before what doesn't kill us will only make us stronger.

Darwin Central has again declared war on FR. They have ping lists and email lists and will try to pull away as many FReepers as they possibly can. So be it. Those who would rather go with Darwin, please go. I sure as hell won't try to stop you.

FR will remain a pro-God, pro-Life, pro-Liberty, pro-Creator conservative site.

We wholeheartedly believe that our unalienable rights are a gift from God our Creator not from man or government. And no man, no government will ever deprive us of same.

Keep your powder dry.

I suspect the reason they don't demonize Mendal is A) they haven't actually read the "evil godless theories" they denounce (or they'd realize Darwin never once mentioned genes) and B) Mendel was a devout Augustinian priest and monk, which goes against their "darwinists are atheists" stereotype.

Likely because Mendel practiced actual science and his work wasn't intertwined with racism, eugenics, Sanger and that ilk.

Shhhh! I'm trying to appeal to them to be conservatives. lol

Truthfully, I have fallen short of the mark on occasion. But I try. Actually I'm tired of the fascination with Tiger Woods. I do not open those threads. End of problem. I don't understand why others can't do the same.

And it's about time! Don't let the door hit you where "natural selection" split you!

Don't know what this is going to do to FR's Catholic/Eastern Orthodox membership, though.

I didn’t object to the information that GGG posted, but it the contentious and controversial nature in which he posted it, ala Phelps.

Evos are in no position to point fingers in that case.

That’s not really an answer to the question of “......Are you forced to open the post?.....”

It’s a couple posts a day and unless you’re on 24/7 it would be very easy to miss them.

And even then, just skip over them.

The rest of us do that when we see something we don’t like.

What Tiger Woods threads?

Honestly, I can’t say as I’ve seen any.....

Sometimes just keeping up with my ping list keeps me busy enough.

Barack Obama makes but one speech a day. Should I ignore him?

There are quite few threads about Woods. I have no interest in sordid details. He's been exposed as not being squeaky clean and it should end there. I don't need more info.

Gotta go. Nice smiling with you! :-)

That isn't what you're doing. You are policing others opinions that you disagree with. That's not a conservative stand.

That title ain't no thang!

Right there in the first paragraph it says "or so they say" ~ so it's up for grabs.

Last I heard, directly from JR, when I asked him, was that FR had something like 300,000 members.....that is anything but ‘fringe’.....and most of those members do engage REGULARLY in ‘conversation’......something I don’t think the wellknown Lefty websites like Daily Kos and HuffPo
or Democratic Underground, do.As little as I visit those “neighborhoods” I am continually amazed at what creepy, snarky, hatefilled, and positively anti-life “folks” fill their bandwidths. No, the reason FR has been vilified is precisely because it IS influential, and precisely because you can find serious discussion here.
They know their days are numbered, as their Messiah, at best , stumbles over his own feet, and turns off more and more of his “constituents” with his arrogance and incompetence every day. Team Obama dispatches thugs like the SEIU,who come across as would-be wimpy cousins of the Red Guard, every so often to rough up a TeaParty protestor, because we’re the only thing standing between them and their own version of “The New World Order”, where THEY, courtesy of Dear Leader Obama, are the “Favored Ones”. Pathetic weasels. People should have listened a little more closely when he promised to “remake America”, instead of clapping right through it. It’s going to be us that remakes America, and half the project will be to rollback the damage he’s already done.

There seem to be a lot of fundamentalist protestants on FR who have a very narrow world view. They live in regions that are 90% protestant, and probably haven't encountered many non-protestants in their everyday lives. When they encounter non-protestants on the Internet they don't see them as real Christians, but probably weird cults.

What a crock of BS.

As everyone knows by now the Washington Post (whose lawyers once sued FR) has an extensive comments section that allows posters to comment on almost everything in the news.

I have found that the DU crowd shows up there and typically sounds dreadful compared to the Freepers who combat them.

The Warshpost comments operation is looking more and more like FR and I suspect JR will eventually need to sue them for copyright (and coding) violations.

You have got to be kiddng me with the Columbine/Darwin reference. Please tell me you’re kidding.

I do agree that Harris and Klebold weren’t bullied and were in some cases the bully.

But to blame their actions on natural selection, or rather their interpretation of Natural Selection, is ludicrous, imo. Harris and Klebold showed many signs of screwed up kids...ignored by their parents it seems...but many kids are behind the eight ball and don’t have perfect upbringings so to speak. They don’t plan to kill as many of their peers as possible, they don’t plan to cause carnage in their high school and kill innocent people. Harris and Klebold were nuts, nasty, evil people who set out to murder their peers and teachers and anyone else who got in the way of their plan.

No doubt there were signs that were ignored by their parents, school admin/teachers,peers, and cops.

The only thing Harris’s journal showed was that this kid was messed up.

Darwinism, unchecked or otherwise, had nothing to do with what Harris and Klebold did to their classmates and community. If Harris and Klebold were so called right wing or fundamentalist Christians, would you still think their murdering, executing really, their classmates was based on their religious beliefs? Or that their religious beliefs came them the pass or reason to murder innocent people?

Harris and Klebold were two very screwed up people, teens. They are to blame for their actions. Lots of people don’t live perfect lives and they don’t go murdering people for the fun of it.
