NEW YORK (AP) - The American Civil Liberties Union has lost a quarter of its yearly donations after a major donor cut off $19 million in annual donations because of economic difficulties. David Gelbaum, a wealthy California conservationist, said he was indefinitely stopping the donations that had made him the New York-based group's largest anonymous donor

That is one of the most embarrassing admissions ever made
FTA - “$50 million a year that he’s been giving to an organization serving veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.”
The organization is not named. An essential piece of this story seems to be missing.
“Ive been on their mailing list for donations because Im an attorney; they must assume that all attorneys support their marxist agenda.”
...glad you posted this comment...I have a question...I’ve heard that the ACLU regularly has thousands of cases, but only 60 staff attorneys...so they rely on lefty “volunteer” attorneys to handle a lot of the suits...also they sue for attorney’s fees, so when they win; the volunteer lawyer submits a padded claim for billable hours...then he gives the attorney fee re-embursement back to the ACLU and takes it as a tax write-off to charity....thus law suits become a profit generator for the ACLU and a tax write off for the attorney...BUT...before they file the suit they carefully shop it around to make sure that it goes before an activist judge that will let them win...that way the money keeps flowing their way.
Have you ever heard anything about this scam from other lawyers?....the sad thing is that it’s the taxpayer that gets soaked...a county near me spent $250,000 fighting for the 10 Commandments at the courthouse and lost, plus had to pay winning attorney fees that were outrageous.

They are an organization with a left wing agenda, producing a rating system for politicians focusing on handouts and thus invariable rating democrat politicians highly.
just 80 mil a year is what funds ACLU treason?
@@@@@
Because there are laws that stipulate that government entities will be responsible for the legal fees in most of the cases that are brought by the ACLU.
One of the reasons why school boards, for example, cave so quickly when threatened by ACLU lawsuits. The school board budget cannot cover the expense of a suit.
Let's not be hasty...as someone pointed out, THAT organization's unnamed. It might be "Veterans Against the War" or some such.
Where’s my hankie?
LOL!
No worries - bailout on the way.
This is Grand Theft. Every politician is either on the take or is an enabler hoping for their fair share!
If not, where the HELL is the outrage?
Stay tuned for Stimulus #2.
Get a government job.
how many "mathematical formulas" does it take these genius' to make money when the government/fed create multiple bubbles? Just get on board and ride.
Thanks for the reminder.
Good to know their funding is drying up. Those folks did all they could to undermine our democracy and I have very little pity for them, other than those whose brokers bought into Madoff for them..
“Illiquid” doesn’t mean he’s short on money, but rather that he’s got all his dough tied up in speculative “green” investments and doesn’t have cash to give right now.
This guy has a track record of making lots of money. With 0’s stimulus help to the environmental sector, he’ll probably make much more with his “illiquid” investments and be back soon.
ACLU doesn’t have a lot to do right now anyway. Things are going their way big time.
Even those folks don't deserve too much pity. The returns were consistently too high for too long to be legitimate. That should have raised red flags, and if those red flags were ignored because the money was so good, the investors deserve what they got. Remember, this was a very exclusive club!
IVAW (Iraq Veterans Against the War)?
There are mountains of money that’s been invested with the assumption that the Cap and trade will be implemented.
I wonder who will crash and burn if we manage to shoot it down?
That is a possibility with the rest of his investment track record. I won’t convict him without hard evidence.
I smell Bernie Madoff in this!
