President Obama's job approval rating has fallen to 47 percent in the latest Gallup poll, the lowest ever recorded for any president at this point in his term.

The new low comes as Obama enters the home stretch in his push to enact his signature initiative, an overhaul of the nation's health care system, and escalates America's involvement in the Afghanistan war.

Below are comparable ratings for other presidents since Gallup began taking presidential approval polls in 1938:

Fascinating. I seem to recall things in the country were very, very grim around Christmas 1977. And yet the Peanut Farmer had a full ten points on Barry.

you are SOOOOO correct on that!
He has done enormous damage to the prospects of any other Black American who wishes to run for POTUS. I’m thinking it won’t happen again in my lifetime. What a shame.

Does this mean the honeymoon is over? Boo Hoo

I guess this whole socialism experiment isn’t working out so-well

Maybe the big O could appoint Michael Mann as chief scientist in charge of polls. He managed to invent temperature changes out of thin air, maybe he can do the same with poll numbers.

It’s worse than that when you look at disapproval ratings. When Bill Clinton had a 48% approval rating at a similar point in his presidency, his disapproval rating was only 43%. In fact, when his approval rating had dropped earlier in his presidency all the way down to 37%, his disapproval rating peaked at 49%. (Keep in mind, Clinton was elected with 43% of the vote, compared the Chosen One, who had 53% of the vote.)

Obama’s disapproval rating stands at 46%.

Reagan also famously recovered from low approval ratings, but his disapproval ratings only topped 48% for a brief while shortly after the 1982 elections, when many Republicans blamed him for the disastrous results. Reagan had also deferred short-term, weak growth for robust, long-term economic health. The result was a second dip in the 1979-1983 depression, with unemployment rates spiking as a result of high interest rates. Obama has done the opposite: He has sacrificed long-term solvency for a short term economic boost which is really nothing more than government spending.

By 1984, the economy was growing at an unprecedented rate. Does anyone really expect 9% growth in 2012?

You know that because of the contentiousness of this election that a lot of lefties are lying about approving of his performance.

So how many of that 47% really disapprove of him?

“The David Dinkins effect on a national scale.”

Yeah, and also brings to mind Coleman Young, Marion Barry, Kwame Kilpatrick... all failures.

47% lets see!

27% will never change because these are the lazy good for nothings who will never work, pay taxes or have any responsibility ever. They only breed, take up space and bitch that the do not get enough “stuff”.

The other 20% felt sorry for the previous and some of them will come around.

Bozo boy can do nothing to improve his thought process as that was fried on dope in his youth.

You know Obama thinks he is the leftist version of Reagan and his numbers too will come roaring back before 2012 in time to win a landslide. He bellieves if he keeps pushing his leftist agenda and get some of it passed it will fix our problems. Not to mention the stimilis is designed to kick in high gear just before the 2012 election to cause a big spike in economic activity so he can ride it into reelection , like Reagan.

President Reagan was at 49% in his first year?

How many damn democrats did they poll back then?

Seems to me that they must have polled all of them, and sprinkled in a few American opinions as well.

Don't be fooled by the Gallup-MSM propaganda, as it is the stuff that Goebbels could only dream about.

Raila Odinga's favorite cousin is most likely at a 39% approval rate, but his lackeys in the MSM are hyping the numbers so as to not totally embarrass him.

Then you will probably never be satisfied. If we can get it under 40 I’ll turn handsprings. There are vast numbers of Obamatons out there who still blame everything on Bush. They believe Barry is doing heroically well, but Bush left behind such a terrible mess it will take at least two terms to fix.
