it is a travesty, though the president’s weekly irritation of the nation will have its political price. and surely the charlie brown christmas show is great.

but an equal tragesy is that the first of the christmas cartoon specials, the delightful “mr. magoo’s christmas carol” won’t be broadcast by anyone at all this year.

humbug!

tragesy=tragedy+travesty. i guess. or it could have been a typo.

Someone mentioned on that thread last week, that the Charlie Brown Christmas Tales & Memories was going to be aired this week.

I've looked for it, because I know a lot of you really enjoy it. I haven't been able to find it.

snow forts

We used to get drifts 10 to 15 foot high in spots, we built tunnels to connect forts.

Bring It On, Charlie Brown!

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and goodwill shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother’s keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Oh, wait. That was the quote from "Pulp Fiction." Here's the quote from "A Charlie Brown Christmas":

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.'

Okay- you’ve gotten me to put on the Vince Guaraldi Trio. There’s an album out there of highlights of the music that he did for the Charlie Brown specials- got it going now. I’m going to take it to the office before Christmas to play. I have the sort of office where I can get away with a bit of whimsy, and it’ll be appreciated. :-)
