Obama science advisers grilled over hacked e-mails (It's ON!)

WASHINGTON – House Republicans pointed to controversial e-mails leaked from climate scientists and said it was evidence of corruption. Top administration scientists looking at the same thing found no such sign, saying it doesn't change the fact that the world is warming.

The e-mails from a British university's climate center were obtained by computer hackers and posted online about two weeks ago. Climate change skeptics contend the messages reveal that researchers manipulated and suppressed data and stifled dissent, and conservative bloggers are dubbing it "Climategate."

In the first Capitol Hill airing of the issue, House Republicans Wednesday read excerpts from at least eight of the e-mails, saying they showed the world needs to re-examine experts' claims that the science on warming is settled. One e-mail from 2003 was by John Holdren, then of Harvard University and now the president's science adviser.

The exploding controversy led Phil Jones to step aside as head of the climate research unit at the University of East Anglia, the source of the e-mail exchanges. The university is investigating the matter. Penn State University also is looking into e-mails by its own researcher, Michael Mann. House Republicans asked for a separate hearing or investigation into the issue, but were rebuffed by Democrats.

"These e-mails show a pattern of suppression, manipulation and secrecy that was inspired by ideology, condescension and profit," said U.S. Rep. James Sensenbrenner, R-Wis.

The Current Administration has concluded that the use of ‘smoke’ is no longer permitted, except by an unnamed person in the WH, who does so naturally or when in contact with Holy Water.

Water vapor, however does have the O2 molucule in its symbol representation.

It just means that the warming ISN’T CAUSED BY MANKIND.

On today’s local radio show I got to hear a climate scientist
from U. Missouri at Kansas City claim that the constant march south
of the freeze line is actually a proof of global warming.

I suspect an increasing number of citrus farmers in Florida might
have reasonable suspicions that this guy is just one of the many warmists
circling the wagons in advance of Copenhagen.

It isn't just the e-mails, it is the other data that was released along with the e-mails. And really, that data is more important than the e-mails in showing that these "scientists" were indeed cooking the books.

But the difference makes no difference to leftist ideologues. The only thing that matters with these people is anything that will advance their lies.

...and that is exactly why the MSM, when it does talk about this, focuses on the emails. The republicans in Congress are too ignorant to realize that the gems are in the data.

IIRC, someone at MIT found a basic mathematical flaw in the codes released.

I read the HARRY READ ME files.

I wouldn't let these clowns babysit a two-year-old, let alone provide the justification for turning the world's economy on its ear.

Charlatans, every one of them.

One incredibly fraudulent aspect of this fiasco has resulted in SCOTUS accepting the false fact that CO2 is a pollutant.

How would they know whetehr the world was warming or not since the data was controlled by those who were manipulating it? I think our next target needs to be the EPA head and Holdren. Thoise two are very dangerous men.

And you did notice that may have had some effect on the auto industry, bailouts, the industry's fascistic buy-outs and absolutely wasted taxpayer money, right?

This is true. It bothers me that the balance of "FOIA2009.zip" (which is the much larger portion of the file) is rarely mentioned.

There are hundreds of fortran programs, and dozens of compressed files within compressed files. It will take huge numbers of man hours for anyone to try to re-assemble them in any definitive way. There are, of course, dozens of errors - as in all code. The tough thing is to try to determine what the particular piece of code was used for, and if it was pertinent in any publication.

I'm still suspect about the origin of this "release". There's quite a bit of exculpatory evidence in these files if anyone looks. I'm afraid that they may be part of a purposeful leak - and we're about to be deluged with defenses found in FOIA.zip.

Of course I realize I am the only person in the world that is that paranoid!

They may have been “purposefully” leaked by an insider who was sick of the corruption.

In my opinion, the reason the emails are focused on is because “ordinary citizens” and not so ordinary journalists can understand the plain language of an email but the codes have to be interpreted by “experts.”

It may not happen in 2010, but I have a feeling that the House GOP won’t have to get permission from the Dems starting in January, 2011. At that point, I want these “scientists” subpoenaed and put under oath, with the hearings live on CSPAN. Either they explain their apparent corruption, or they don’t and go to jail.

Gosh, this is useful.
I think I'll go put it on some other threads as well.

"They may have been “purposefully” leaked by an insider who was sick of the corruption."

Yeah, it's possible. Maybe even likely. But . . .

The "emails" appear to be almost surgically selected. There's only 1073 of them. They span a time frame of 13 years. The number sequence spans 400 million numbers.

Yet . . .

Not a single embarrassing personal email. No spam. No wife, girlfriend, boyfriend etc. It seems like a "disgruntled" employee would be a bit less careful about removing all personal communications.

call me a skeptical skeptic.

Are you saying or believe water vapor is a pollutant? If so please elaborate.

Please do not use EPA suppositions.

But they had good intentions!

The hell they did.

Their intentions were to destroy our economy, cut off our energy usage (as Eugene Robinson put it "drastically alter our consumption behaviors"), and ultimately, depopulate the earth, all the while making huge sums of money.
