President Barack Obama ... ... is slated to deliver a prime-time address on Tuesday night in which he'll lay out his plans for the American war in Afghanistan.
The address before the United States Military Academy at West Point on Tuesday night will not only be used to announce the immediate order to deploy roughly 30,000 more troops, but the administration will also use the occasion to convey how it intends to turn the fight over to the Kabul government, the New York Times reported.
But the administration may also face an unforeseen enemy as it lays out its long-awaited plans. And they are loud and they are legion: We're talking about preschoolers and their parents.
That's because ABC-TV was scheduled to present its annual screening of "A Charlie Brown Christmas" at 8 p.m. tomorrow night. And we don't know about you, but that show is pretty sacrosanct around our house and not to be trifled with lightly.
A call to the White House may be in order here. We hear it's pretty easy to get through these days ...

"You awfully hard on the Beaver last night, Ward."................
I’m just surprised he is not going on during Glen Beck.
There was a radio station in town that played "Linus and Lucy" year 'round into the early 2000s. It was also the only station in town that played Sinatra and others.
Our Homeowners Association (I got on the Board for self-defense) announced a "Holiday Event." I voted against it based entirely on the fact it should be a "Christmas Event."
For the first time in my life I am displaying a bumper sticker that states, "We Say Merry Christmas!"
I am also searching for a "Merry Christmas" sweater to wear at the December meeting.
: )
1. Go back.
2. Read what you wrote to DoughtyOne. Linger especially on the phrase “mean spirited.”
3. Pull the big freakin’ plank out of your eye.
“Saturday mornings have become a barren wasteland havent they.”

Jonny Quest Forever!
“I doubt that it would be produced today...wouldnt want to offend anyone....”
This made me think of Disney’s “South of the South” -they won’t even produce it for DVD... My brother actually got a VCR copy from Britain. Guess he’s glad they didn’t go thru his mail.
10 to 1 Charlie Brown wins the ratings battle. Onada has so ever exposed himself, failed to accomplish anything since he usurped the WH and told so many lies only leftist delusionals would bother to tune in.
He's just building up for the climax... Obummer's Midnight speech on December 25th...
How true. I feel so sad for the past few generations who've had nothing but garbage like that to grow up with. The quality and content of today's cartoons are awful. I guess the truly funny and creative old time classics like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig and Popeye are not considered "PC" today.
No, it’s not the goodie goodie factor. For some reason, the material in CB (peanuts I’m informed), just grates me. The music, the interactions... I don’t know why, it just does.
I like the Andy Griffith and Leave it to Beaver shows. While they may not reflect society perfectly, they did provide a nice moral platform for kids to learn from. And I might add, that could just as easily have transcended racial boundaries if people had let them.
A host of shows from the 50s and 60s provided decent moral values. Then I began to see folks talk about their “white bread” content, which just floored me. Is that really all they saw in those shows?
If I can watch a show or movie with Black characters and enjoy it, shouldn’t others be able to watch programming with Whites in it, and glean meaning from it?
I’m not inferring this is what you were addressing at all, but it’s something that comes to mind when discussing those old shows.
As for Ron Howard, Henry Winkler,... it saddens me to see them do some of the things they have. Howard’s treatment of the Catholic Church in his movies is disturbing to me, and I was raised to see that church in a negative light. I still realize that if they can do that to one religion, they can and will do it to all of them.
Thanks for the mention.

And, I'll bet the vast majority of your neighbors are Christian...or at least celebrate Christmas.
This crap is endemic. I don't think most people even realize what has happened.
Here In EyeGuyLand, we make it a POINT to say Merry Christmas to our (mostly Christian) patients. They are happily surprised to hear that semi-retired and antiquated phrase of yore.
Balm for the soul.
If you want to mix it up a bit with your Christmas music, check this out.
For some real old-timey stuff, mash here.
Thanks. I will try to catch it, if it does air at some point.
That last comment about Obama was an interesting one. I wonder if he even gave it a thought what some lowly network might have planned.
Kind of surprised that Obama didn’t do like he did during his scampaign, schedule his appearance to let Charlie Brown “open” for his speech.
Hey, we all have a right to disagree. We all have our own likes and dislikes. That’s part of what makes this country great. The freedom to be ourselves. The freedom to disagree. The freedom to be individuals.
