White House counters conservative columnist Krauthammer By Michael O'Brien - 11/28/09 12:10 PM ET

The White House took on a conservative columnist on Friday evening, in its latest bid to correct perceived inaccuracies in arguments against health reform.

Incoming White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer, in a blog post on the White House's website, said that syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer had made a "wholly inaccurate" case against health reform efforts favored by the Obama administration.

"In today's Washington Post, Charles Krauthammer takes great pains to paint a bleak picture of health care reform as 'monstrous,' 'overregulated,' and rife with 'arbitrary bureaucratic inventions,'" Pfeiffer wrote. "The columnist's argument may be cogent and well-written, but it is wholly inaccurate."

Pfeiffer argued the bill substantially includes the reforms Krauthammer would prefer, while going beyond those reforms to impose a broader overhaul of health insurance.

The blog represents just the latest salvo in an ongoing effort by the White House to go on the offensive with its messaging in the healthcare battle.

Pfeiffer has previously dispatched similar blog posts seeking to counter critics in the battle for health reform.

One crippled wheelchair bound honest intellectual (Krauthammer) versus the vast resourses of the Obama regime: Who is telling the truth?

Amen!

I don't think any of BHO's people can out think Dr. Krauthammer. I hope he responds to their challenges of his writing. They will lose any ongoing back and forth. :)

Yeah I would go all in with Krauthammer as well. He’s smarter than any of the tools in this administration (including the supposed smartest man to ever hold the Presidency) and he also happens to be honest and loves America. Sounds like a winning hand to me.

...conservative columnist Krauthammer

Perhaps however it would be a stretch.

Soon the likes of Specter or Snowe will be considered right wing fanatics.

That aside, Krauthammer does appear lately to be a tad bit put off by the present regime in Washington.

Hey, TOTUS-reader and hangers-on! Hows that “keep hitting yourself in the head because it feels so good when we stop” action working for you? You now catapulted Krauthammer mich higher than if you kept yer yaps shut (like Rush, I can’t help but dispense free advice... ;) )

In the long run Alinski only works for local politics. His rules had nothing to do with the marginal win last year — that was a perfect storm of events that will probably never happen again.

Correct.

Krauthammer is a Compassionate Independent, NOT a Conservative. But I always listen respectfully to what he has to say.

How condescending! Probably would say the same thing about that other "flawed" document that stands in the way of such a massive government taxing mechanism.

Congress should read the CBO report on health care reform...

From the CBO

Bottom Line:

“The country faces a fundamental disconnect between the services people expect the government to provide, particularly in the form of benefits for the older Americans, and the tax revenues that people are willing to send to the government to finance those services. The fundamental disconnect will have to be addressed in some way if the budget is to be placed on a sustainable course.”

“The avoidance of taxes is the only intellectual pursuit that carries any reward.”
(John Maynard Keynes)

“Anyone may arrange his affairs so that his taxes shall be as low as possible; he is not
bound to choose that pattern which best pays the treasury. There is not even a patriotic
duty to increase one’s taxes. Over and over again the Courts have said that there is
nothing sinister in
so arranging affairs as to keep taxes as low as possible. Everyone does it,
rich and poor alike and all do right, for nobody owes any public duty to pay
more than the law demands.”

(US Appeals Court Justice the Honourable Learned Hand)

Exactly, in what universe can people, who can’t even pull off a state dinner with all of the rules and protocols spelled out for them, win a pissin’ contest with one of the brightest men in the country?

""The columnist's argument may be cogent and well-written, but it is wholly inaccurate."

Hmmm... I don't see any "inaccuracies" listed anywhere. Did he name any specific ones? I want to see the inaccuracies he thinks are so damning to Krauthamer's stance. (...crickets...)

These people in the White House are no match for Krauthammer. They are lieing to the American people and are finding out that the people are figuring it out. That’s why the hurry to get health care passed as fast as they can. The longer it takes, the more people will find out.
