Reversing his previously stated belief that none of the Republican candidates for the GOP presidential nomination have all three legs of the conservative stool, Rush Limbaugh told his listeners Monday that Mitt Romney is indeed a three-leg conservative.
Describing the three legs as "national security/foreign policy, the social conservatives, and the fiscal conservatives," Rush said, "The social conservatives are the cultural people. The fiscal conservatives are the economic crowd: low taxes, smaller government, get out of the way... The foreign policy crowd is obviously what it is. I don't think there's anybody on our side who doesn't care about national security."
...
His conclusion? "I think the one candidate of the three still out there on our side that matter (and, actually, it's just two, because Huckabee doesn't, in terms of a chance to win) is saying who more closely embodies all three legs of this conservative stool, you'd have to say that it's Mitt Romney. There's actually no choice in the matter. It certainly isn't Senator McCain."

Even Rush Limbaugh, apparently. But at least those who hate Mitt Romney understate their case in reasonable and rational terms like "evil butcher." Rush Limbaugh/"evil butcher", who are you going to believe?
Rush, just take the rest of the weekend off, go to bed, and drink some chicken soup, so you’ll be OK to do your show on Monday.
Neither. Limbaugh doesn't tell me who to vote for. If this is Limbaugh's opinion then he's dead wrong, IMO. I'll never vote for another liberal in Republican clothing. Never.
Let’s just forget Jonnie Goodboy and get behind Sarah.
I think that Limbaugh is like Coulter on Romney. They know the real Romney, not the one that is advertised on TV, so they are not bothered by what they see on TV.
Romney’s biggest liability in my opinion is his support for socialized medicine. However, I could overlook that if I thought it was a charade.
Don’t agree.
Just like it says in the headline of the thread.
Myth Romney is an evil abortionist, big government health care pushing socialist pig! It’s in his record.
IMO, Romney had two moments.
The first was salvaging the winter olympics.
The second was bringing Mass out of debt.
Shoulda stopped there and gone back to the private sector.
One word: Romneycare
Well we found the .5% where he was wrong. I suspect that Rush was trying to put the best face on what he saw was the best of a very weak candidate pool.
Rush picked the best of what he had to choose from. While I agree it makes the “RINO” charge pretty stupid, I don’t think it means Limbaugh would pick Romney as his favorite conservative, if there were other real conservatives in the mix.
I know the real Mitt Romney, having grown up knowing him. The damnable lies that are spread of decent, here are beyond the bounds of decent, civil and honest discours and every bit as filthy and ignorant as the majority of the stuff over at DU, DailyKos and HuffPo and most of the people who spread this BS are fully aware of it.
Ok, let's play one more time, I love whacking a Mittbot pinata anyways.
Everybody go to the transcript once AGAIN and see what it really says.

So verses McCain and Huckabee, Mitt is the best to represent Conservatives.
For those who have always wondered what the definition of damning with faint praise is, there ya go...
Thanks for citing the date (which the poster did too, so why did he post this?)
At the time, Romney was the only viable option. For 2012, it’s unacceptable.
WHAT?... That's exactly why I stopped listening to this guy years ago...

No job?.. bad credit? No problemo!... We'r here to help ya... What it is... is what it is my man!..
I don’t think he would be Rush’s ideal candidate either and he pretty much says that in the article. However, since FR has now switched to out and out slander as a fundraising tool, against a friend of mine, I had to point out that there are solid, high profile Conservatives out there who believe Romney to be one of them.
**I suspect that Rush was trying to put the best face on what he saw was the best of a very weak candidate pool.**
As this article was ORIGINALLY POSTED in FEBRUARY 2008, I’m inclined to AGree... I smell the nefarious underdealings of a ROMNEYBOT in the rooms.
I would have had a much less of a “REACTION” voting for Romney than I did McLAME.
