Will Texas’ State Sovereignty be a major issue in the battle for the Republican Governor’s race?

Perry has seemingly begun to build a case of grievances against the federal government. His primary points:

-Current administration is “hell-bent” on socialism Washington is now actively punishing Texas through it policies

-Health Care Bill would eat up Texas’ $9 billion rainy day fund in 1.5 years

-Cap and Trade would cap the entire southern economy Texas may have to reassert 10th amendment protections

I will not pretend to know whether Perry is sincere or if this is simply positioning himself for the upcoming primaries. But that’s not the point… certainly these statements indicate the mood of many of the people in Texas. If nothing else, Texans know that our state, among others, is under attack by the current redistribution-focused federal government. And we know that something must be done…

But are we serious?

Perry has a lock on this one. KBH made a bad decision to challenge him and should withdraw.

“If Texas goes 10th amendment, I will move there!”

As would a lot of others...hey, maybe they could fill all the vacancies that would be created in Austin?

Of course, they will do their best to bring Texas down.

These are very dirty evil people and we’ve seen how they operate.

We’ve seen how his/their cronies get the prizes. Anyone
against the right’s views gets to go to the front of the line.

I think Perry is a fighter and I’m staying with him.

I don’t think they can buy him like they did with the LA ho.

I, for one, am seriously hoping that Texas becomes the state which fires the secession shot heard round the country. Somebody has to start it.

My observation, as a noob to the State of Texas, is that
Texans, at least outside of Austin, really don’t like governments of any sort.

Therefore I wonder if Perry is kept in office so no one more powerful takes control. The guy makes speeches that throw red meat to conservatives, but I can’t (for the life of me) see what else he does (or has done).

Could end up - True America in ONE state only.

It could end up like the CA gold rush - except the draw will be patriotism!

Yeah even the Refinery employees are starting to see the light. Houston Acorn mayor and his global warming bs is gone this election. Refinery employees held a demonstration (in an auditorium) and the media ignored them. These employees are a source of power for the move to sovereignty. Must get them organized.

My thought too.
I was dumbfounded on that one.
She is staying in the Senate. So she may realize she doesn’t have a shot at the title.

Perry has had RINO tendencies in the recent past, so we will have to see if he “walks the walk” as well as he has been “talking the talk” during his campaign.

People can and do change, so let’s hope that Perry’s recent comments about the sovereignty of Texas are signs of his transformation into a true conservative.

If he gets re-elected and reverts back to being a RINO, then that old Texas expression applies.....”All hat and no cattle.”

The POINT of Sov Movement is that TEXANS are TIRED of the mindset that their lives should be determined by what some politician DOES for them.
The point is we are tired of being told WHAT to do.

As much as I agree with the Governor about his grievances with the fed govt, I hope to God it never comes to Texas trying to secede. I can’t even imagine the suffering and pain that would inflict. First off, the fed govt will not allow it and we will have another civil war and I can’t even imagine our military having to go to war against their fellow Texans. I’m not sure my husband wouldn’t be a conscientious objector as he’s said things to that effect before about ever having to go up against his fellow Americans in a civil war. But the fed govt has the U.S. military as an instrument that would put down the civil war but not without much bloodshed. I can’t even contemplate such a scenario. Secondly, not everyone in Texas would be on board with such a things. There would be internal fighting as well as external force to take them down. Too terrible to even think about for long.

There’s a good campaign slogan somewhere in that - Doesn’t have enough confidence in herself or what she can bring to the table - yet, she expects voters to have the confidence in her.

Can’t under why that is allowed. It’s like me working and going around the company telling everyone I’m looking for a better job and I want some good references from all of us - I’ll be out a lot due to interviewing and demand my position here to be remain safe.
