Reform: Only a Bernie Madoff could believe the Senate's health care bill will extend coverage to 31 million Americans while cutting deficits by $127 billion over 10 years. It would be the first profitable entitlement.
But that's what Majority Leader Harry Reid, citing Congressional Budget Office estimates, tells us the 2,074-page bill — said to cost only $849 billion over a decade — would do.
Like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, he seems to be following Vice President Joe Biden's admonition at an AARP town hall meeting that "we've got to spend money to keep from going bankrupt."
We suspect Reid's estimate will be as accurate as those for Medicare and Medicaid, which are going broke with their trillions in unfunded liabilities. According to the Heritage Foundation, Medicare alone faces $36 trillion in unfunded obligations.
We are not impressed by this sleight-of-hand accounting that says you can expand coverage and cut costs. Neither is Jeffrey S. Flier, dean of Harvard Medical School.
"In discussions with dozens of health care leaders and economists," he writes, "I find near-unanimity of opinion that, whatever its shape, the final legislation that will emerge from Congress will markedly accelerate national health care spending rather than restrain it. "

This BS has nothing whatsoever to do with healthcare. The Pelosi/Reid DeathCare is a plot to kill off as many Americans via denying care as they can legally get by with. Anyone that believes they care about anything but their own power is a clueless moron. None of the arrogant elitists in the US Congress would take the time to come near the average citizen much less care about their health. Give me a break! They’ll shake your hand if there’s money attached to it.

Never a word about the question of why the federal gov’t should be involved at all in health care, let alone the constitutionality of the present bills.
If the opponents of this massive gov’t takeover of health care continue to focus only on the “Costs”, the real issue is ignored. The numbers can be molded into anything the libs want to meet some arbitrary point set out by those who are wavering on supporting this monstrosity.
The Repubs/Conservatives in congress need to pound home the point that the federal gov’t has no business involving itself in the management of health care, but should only involve itself in removing the current barriers placed by the federal gov’t (and encourage states to do the same), that accelerate the health care costs that provide no value to health care as a whole.
Also, the failings of Medicare and Medicaid need to be emphasized along with the outrageous cost claims made at the beginning of these programs.
These would be the winning arguments ... not how much it will cost over 5, 10, or 15 years. That is a straw dog argument.
The taxes for this anti-health monstrosity start immediately. The purported bill has the plan starting in a few years. So between now and then they will steal a lot money from us with the supposed purpose of paying for the health plan. By any chance do you feel they will spend it elsewhere and/or give it to their buddies? What a bunch of TOTAL losers! Vote these morons OUT!
Exactly... anyone thinks they won’t use this money to pay all their other social promises off and tell people your healthcare plan is broke when it starts to take effect... is freaking nuts!
My belief is its a great china lockbox. He takes the money and gives it to china to pay the bonds. The actual money stolen from hard working Americans has never been set aside for anything.

Imagine the frenzy of spending that will happen if this new “revenue” is generated.
Problem is, when unemployment hits 20 - 25% there won't be any new revenues.

An obvious amendment would be to delay the taxes AND the program, 7 years more for both.
They collect new taxes for FOUR YEARS and coverage costs are for SIX years.
Would you buy an health insurance policy that worked like this? We may not have a choice now will we?
Look more closely ... the Stimulus bill already signed into law has provisions for funding the ‘panels’ Sarah Palin spoke of. The Unions were the largest funders for democrap elections, so now as the world economy tanks due to outrageous speculation run amok because of government backing of the speculation, the democrats are hard at work to remove the major expense to the unions, the healthcare provided by union dues. And guess what, the whole shebang is a perfect tool to crash and destroy the U.S. economy so we whimper our way into a global system of carbon manipulations, government control over energy prodcution and use, and W A G E S. Yeah, lots of folks are going to die because of healthcare mismanagement, but that is only a side benefit in demcorat minds, final power via their federal oligarchy is their goal.
Very savvy of you! ... Do you know that 80%—at last look—of the revenue to be generated by the cap and tax scam/scheme is already promised to interests groups and not to federal tax revenues? That was necessary slush payola to get the votes to pass the killer bill through the House for conference with the Senate! SEIU employement will be powerfully tied to the new federally run ‘healthcare system’ ... and ask Mister Gladney in Missouri how SEIU treats black people.

Just as stores sell items for “$8.49” instead of “$8.53”, for example, these “cost” and “savings” numbers have been massaged until they can be issued by government entities to look acceptable.
They are total fabrications - more smoke and mirrors - meant to lull us while our country is being destroyed.
Sadly it’s no hoax, but it is major FRAUD!
