Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. on Wednesday defended his decision to prosecute five men accused as co-conspirators in the Sept. 11 attacks in federal court in Manhattan, declaring that while he believes “we are at war,” that the venue was the best place to pursue the case against them.
Despite criticism that holding such a trial presented greater risks than a military commission, Mr. Holder argued that there were fewer differences between the rules for federal court and the military panels than some critics realize. And, he argued, the Southern District of New York has a long history of successfully prosecuting terrorism suspects.
“We need not cower in the face of this enemy,” Mr. Holder said, testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee. “Our institutions are strong, our infrastructure is ready, our resolve is firm, and our people are ready.”

Given the backlash against the decision none of these really seem powerful enough to justify the political risk. I'm stumped.

Really why is Chucky asking for 100 Million for NYC? Then as Greta says first motion will be can’t get a fair trial in NYC and its moved.
Move it to Chicago and hope that some of Obama’s good buds are called for jury duty.
There is no WAY I’d sit on that jury and risk my life for this political insanity knowing that some imam is going to issue a fatwah calling for the death of any flipping “infidel” jurist who votes to convict.

In order to obtain a conviction, the rules of evidence will have to be suspended. Yet, both Holder and Obumbles have assured us of a conviction.
This country is at banana republic status.
I think they are doing this to establish a precedent that will carry this huge harm into the future, among other reasons.
The United States is now an occupied nation as surely as if we had been defeated in a war, and in a sense, we have been.
For now, the occupier’s think they can call the shots, and maybe they can.

O Dumbo has just invited himself into testifying at the trial and, of course, set up the terrorist to go free.
During Aaron Burr's trial the defendant subpoenaed Jefferson's files trying to show the lack of independence of the executive (claimed he was being railroaded in current parlance), that Jefferson had “prejudged” the case as evidenced by his pronouncements. Jefferson claimed "Executive Privilege” which Marshall denied. Jefferson refused to provide the information and ultimately Burr walked because of some other decisions by Marshall.
I've been thinking the same thing. Is this a play by Obama to destroy the judicial system? I just don't see how this case even gets to the jury if they play this by the book. Pretty sure no one told KSM he had a right to an attorney. He was waterboarded, so given no right to remain silent. Case dismissed. Of course, they will take the occasion to drag the CIA and Bush/Cheney through the mud in trying to avoid dismissal.
You are only left to conclude one of two things; 1) Obama and company are incredibly stupid, or, 2) they are willfully destroying the institutions of America.
The best explanation I've heard is that something like 20 detainees at Gitmo are currently being represented by Holder's law firm. This circus is nothing more than an opportunity for them to have these guys tried in Federal courts for decades -- and have the firm bill the U.S. government billions of dollars in legal fees.
New York City wants this because it allows them to hold their hand out to Uncle Sam and get billions of dollars to cover expenses related to security, police overtime, etc.
AND HOW! Graham showed him, and his affirmative action, fascist boss, to be the incompetent lawyers they are.
Being a juror would suck...you’d end up being “sentenced” to sequestration for probably around a year.
I have heard the concept put forward that moving the GITMO prisoners to Illinois would create a bump in their economy. Locking these creatures up is an absolute necessity! Obviously, it will create jobs in Illinois.
Has anyone discussed the possibility that bringing KSM and his 4 flying monkeys to NYC will create a federal gravy train for public defenders? A few of whom I expect might happen to be related to the AG??
