Student refused; was held down for vaccination.
It took the strength of two sheriff's deputies to keep a middle schooler still enough to receive a shot of the swine flu, or H1N1, vaccine at a recent clinic.
During a regular Wheeling-Ohio County Health Board meeting Tuesday, health department Administrator Howard Gamble told board members about the student's attempt to flee Wheeling Middle School during a vaccination clinic held there last Friday.
He noted the boy's mother could not bear to watch the scene and left the gymnasium.
"He tried to run. I looked over and saw two sheriff's deputies holding a kid down," Gamble said. "Mom took off, she couldn't take it. You had one nurse with the needle, two deputies holding him, one nurse is grabbing hands - because that's what they want to do, to go after the needle. And that's the last thing you want."

Indeed, sir, indeed.
I am really gald that it was nto my child being held down and poked with a needle.
It would not have ended well at all...
Not far behind you...
I know precisely what you mean, sir.
Can you even imagine what it will be like if they enact Pelosicare?
When I was a kiddo in the ‘50s I remember several years in a row finding out it was shot-day. I spent all day up a pine tree. They never were able to get me down. It was well worth the whippings I got to delay those shots.
I am about 5 years ahead of you. How this will end, I don’t know. Not well I suppose. But I do know two things: 1. I will not go into one of obama’s camps. 2. I will not take his flu, swine or otherwise, shots.
Excuse me?
Actually, if they did this the way they did in my county (I teach in WV), the kids were NOT given the vaccine unless their parents returned the permission form.
Chances are, if the kid was in line for a vaccine, Mom probably signed up for it. Parents have the right to make medical decisions for their kids. They do it at school because they can get them all done in a single day.
No where in the article did it say that the shots were mandatory.
No doubt. One would think so. But the law is a funny thing...not that it was meant to be.
They went way over the line on this one.
I would sue those POS for all they are worth; then charge them with assualt with intent to do harm.
I don’t have a problem with “no right to refuse” when we’re talking about middle-schooler whose parents want him to get the vaccination.
Two sheriff’s deputies - What were these sheriff deputies doing there in the first place.
Will there be police, fbi, sheriff deputies, or cia at all facilities giving shots?

They were doing shots at the county fairground in Hillsdale County Michigan. All I could think was that there were a lot of farm animals at the grounds each week, and dirt and germs tracked all over the place. I can’t believe there wasn’t another clinic available for the shots. Just plain weird.
Why were there law enforcement officers helping give shots? Does that go on at your doctor’s office? The cops should have told mom, “Your son doesn’t want a shot. You will have to take care of this yourself.”
It looks like the sheriff’s deputies and the school authorities were acting as the agents of the mother, who had requested ad arranged for the shots. Most children do not want to be stuck with a needle, but, just as in this situation, it is the parent’s decision not the child’s. It is unfortunate that the mother, having set everything up, failed in her duty to comfort and restrain her child and ran out on her son.
