Lou Dobbs' refusal to drop "birther" stories about challenges to President Obama's constitutional eligibility to hold office was a major source of contention with CNN management, leading the unconventional anchor to walk away from the network and more than $9 million, according to the New York Post.
Dobbs, known for his strong stand against illegal immigration, surprised his loyal viewers Wednesday night by announcing his resignation and offering no indication of his next move.
The Post, citing anonymous sources, said the beginning of the end of a long-simmering dispute came in July, when CNN President Jonathan Klein told Dobbs' staff in a memo to stop reporting on lawsuits that demand Obama produce evidence he's a natural-born American citizen, as required by the Constitution.
"It seems this story is dead because anyone who still is not convinced doesn't really have a legitimate beef," Klein's memo said.
A source told the Post Klein's move incensed Dobbs.
"They have been talking pretty regularly since then," the source said. "And it's been pretty bad."

To bad conservatives have no one with the courage of Lou Dobbs about the Birther issue, if we did we could advance it.
Congratulations to Dobbs for putting principle over money and resigning. Not many "stars" in the MSM would make such a decision.

It is no wonder that CNN's viewership is tanking with people like Klein in charge! He must be blind, deaf, and dumb!
There are many related concerns with real substance attached to this story. If CNN had real journalists they would address any number of issues raised instead of telling people to move along.
First, is it not interesting that congressional hearings were held to determine whether Sen. John McCain was constitutionally eligible to be president as a "natural born citizen," but no such thing for Obama? Isn't it interesting that no controlling legal authority ever sought to verify Obama's claim to a Hawaiian birth, or to certify that he is a "natural born" citizen (being as Obama has admitted that his father was a British citizen)?
Has CNN or anybody else explained to the American people how Obama satisfies the Constitutional requirement as a natural born citizen?
The real story is the unprecedented lack of openness by our President in connection with his kindergarten records, Punahou school records, Selective Service Registration, Occidental College records, Columbia University records, Columbia thesis, Harvard Law School records, Harvard Law Review articles, scholarly articles from the University of Chicago, passport, medical records, files from his years as an Illinois state senator, his Illinois State Bar Association records, any baptism records and adoption records.
The sanity of the people requesting Obama supply his COLB to prove he’s eligible, and the fact Obama has never provided his COLB to dispel the rumors, and thus, humiliate such folks with actual EVIDENCE,
are two different issues. They are NOT the same stories although they both center around the same thing: Obama’s COLB and the lack of him producing it.
Fox should have said: “I’ll give you a Shep and a Geraldo for one Lou”.

If the “Birther” issue is what drove Dobbs from CNN, we can be sure he won’t end up at Fox. They’ve hidden from the “Birther” issue from the beginning.
I think Lou Dobbs put on the gloves when “they” went after his family. The journalist in him will not stop until he finds who “they” are.
Not many people understand how Lou walked away from $9 million for his last year where all the money was weighted. He did that because he stood up for something.
I have total admiration for Lou Dobbs. He fought against illegal immigration and to expose the usurper.
Lou Dobbs is an incredible man.
This is what I predicted. Fox News will not hire Dobbs. They have been warned.
I also predict that Dobbs will be blacklisted.
Klein protects Obama.
and saves himself $9,000,000 by harassing Dobbs until he quits in frustration.

Finally,...Regarding Fox, Rush, Beck, Hannity, OReilly, and the other conservative media:
1) OBAMA WILL SHUT YOU DOWN ANYWAY!
2) OBAMA WILL STEAL YOUR WEALTH ANYWAY!
3) THE THUGS WILL FOLLOW THROUGH ON THEIR THREATS ANYWAY!
So...Fox and the rest might as well **vigorously** report on Obama’s eligibility (daily) now while they still have a chance to have him disqualified. Because the “thugs” will destroy them no matter what they do anyway.
