TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras — Assailants fired an anti-tank grenade toward the building housing ballots for the upcoming Honduran presidential elections, which are taking place under the shadow of a four-month crisis caused by a coup, police said Friday.
The grenade overshot the target, exploding 550 yards (500 meters) from the building in the capital of Tegucigalpa, police spokesman Orlin Cerrato said. Residents in several neighborhoods heard the explosion Thursday night, but there were no damages.
Police believe the building housing election material was the intended target because the surrounding buildings are mostly residential. They said the Russian-made, rocket-propelled grenade was likely launched by inexperienced people.
"The intention was to destroy election material to sabotage the elections," Cerrato said.
Ousted President Manuel Zelaya is urging the international community not to recognize the Nov. 29 election if he is not reinstated beforehand.

There have now been 4,214 homicides in Honduras this year, a monthly average of 421 victims and a daily one of 14. This October ended with 498 homicides. The causes are blamed on organized crime and gang membership rivalries. There have also been 92 victims of kidnapping his year. [Honduras is slightly larger than Tennessee.]

Actually, there was no “coup” in Honduras. Obama and other left winger nation leaders simply interfered in Honduras’ internal affairs, for reasons which frankly baffle me. Zaleya was terming out under the constitution and illegally attempted to change the constitution. Honduras’ Supreme Court declared his action illegal, and along with the Honduras Congress ousted him. As far as I can tell Obama simply sided with him because he’s a leftist; no other explanation.
I could have done without the “launched by an inexperienced user” information, though. Chavez is now looking for someone with experience for the next attack. It’s like yelling across the battle lines, “ha ha, your shot missed us by 59 feet to the south”.
Again , why does the lefties at Ap still call it a CouP. It was not one !
