It’s all part of that “innocent until proven guilty” thing.

As long as the perp is alive and untried in court, he is technically “alleged,” “suspected,” etc.

None of us like it, and there is no doubt he’s guilty, but the rule of law says we have to wait a bit till it’s official.

This is NOT directed at you.

FORT HOOD -- This is the latest information on the injured. There are 16 people still hospitalized, including the alleged shooter. Seven victims are still in intensive care unit and 9 others people are still being treated.

He was seen by each victim.  He was seen by the officer who shot her weapon and hit the target four times, becoming wounded herself, which led to her losing half the blood in her body.  He was seen by the arresting officers.  He has been seen by many others since.  I think we can safely say this is the shooter, with no ands, ifs or buts about it.

He was captured on site.  They didn't slip us a mickey.  This is the guy.

So we have seen how alleged can be used improperly.  Here is an example of how it can be used properly.

Oh nooooo. My DIL just told me that WBC showed up and set up a protest in front of McDonalds. They were shooed away by supporters but plenty heard the garbage that they spew. :(

Ft. Hood street McDonalds is on my route this evening. Should I stop by the house for my tools?

Man that is a dangerous place to be spouting that crap, and the troops are in a foul mood as it is.

They may get to sue, if they are fit enough to sign the paperwork.

Now if they want to go a couple of miles south on Ft. Hood street, they could spout the same crap outside the Mosque, after doing so outside the Starz club, which is also on the way, and was also frequented by Hasan. See how many lumps that gets them.

It's really too bad Texas no longer has the legal concept of "fighting words".

Oh they didn’t last long. They weren’t heard much above cars honking and they were literally run off pretty quickly. Most of what was heard from them was by news reports. My DIL was plenty upset they were there. Thank the Lord my neither of my sons ran into them.
