Scozzafava Resigns From Republican Assembly Leadership Post

North country Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava has resigned from her leadership position in the state Assembly.

In a prepared statement, Republican Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb said he accepted her resignation as Minority Leader Pro Tempore.

Just before last week's election, Scozzafava dropped out of the Congressional race and backed the Democrat, Bill Owens, who went on to win.

Scozzafava met Monday to discuss her actions.

Many have argued that Scozzafava's last-minute endorsement of Owens gave him the Congressional win.

“Today, I had a thorough and frank discussion with Assemblywoman Scozzafava. As a result, Dede has tendered, and I accepted, her resignation as our Conference’s Leader Pro Tempore. Over the coming weeks, I will be assessing who will serve as our Conference’s next Leader Pro Tempore to lead our Assembly floor debates,” Kolb said in his statement.

Oh, the huge manatee!

How will the Republican Party ever recover from this devastating loss?

Being a traitor rarely pays.

I wish we had the Klingon discommodation ritual.

What a shame. I would have liked to have seen her removed, not leave voluntarily.

Wonder how long it takes her to make her party-switch official?

Oh how sad!

Where will they ever find another liberal RINO in New York to replace her?

I think we did.

I would think that she is on the executive committee of the republican party in her district. I would also think it would be against the rules for an exec committee member to endorse a member of the democratic party. She should have been unceremoniously booted in her axe handle backside.

I think it was more of a forced resignation. There was a thread last week, someone calling for her to be ousted.

“Today, I had a thorough and frank discussion with Assemblywoman Scozzafava..."

"A man becomes preeminent, he's expected to have enthusiasms. Enthusiasms, enthusiasms... What are mine? What draws my admiration? What is that which gives me joy? Baseball!

"A man stands alone at the plate. This is the time for what? For individual achievement. There he stands alone. But in the field, what? Part of a team. Teamwork... Looks, throws, catches, hustles. Part of one big team. Bats himself the live-long day, Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, and so on. If his team don't field... what is he? You follow me? No one.

"Sunny day, the stands are full of fans. What does he have to say? I'm goin' out there for myself. But... I get nowhere unless the team wins!"

Exactly! Why didn't they remove her?

I think it was more of a forced resignation.

Yeah, but they should have fired her and held a press conference announcing that they threw her out because she is a cheat who cheated the people who voted her and it was a shame that she was clinging on to her position.

Somebody should submit that to Bulwer-Lytton. Seriously. It has all the right elements to be a winner.

I agree and a thief, IMO. She stole votes from the real republican and she should be made to pay back the 900,000. She got off easy.
