Three American hikers who have been detained in Iran after crossing into the country from Iraq have been charged with espionage, according to reports by Iran's State News Agency.
Shane Bauer, 27, Sarah Shourd, 31, and Josh Fattal, 27, have been detained in Iran since July 31. Their families say they entered the Islamic Republic accidentally while hiking in a scenic area of northern Iraq.
The families, who have had no contact with the detainees, released videos in October that showed them dancing and singing before they were captured by Iranian authorities.

A "scenic part of northern Iraq" would certainly be my first choice of a place to take a hike.

Indeed. Possibly an Iranian crisis for Zippy a la Peanut Boy.
Although Obama is much more extreme, the parallels with Carter are pretty striking. Hopefully, Hussein is on a similar path to political oblivion.

those with western ideas will never tread safely in muslim territories. because of islam’s hatred for even those with slightly different ideas or values, iraq and other countries will never be fully “saved”, or fully open for tourism and industry.
it is by islam’s own folly that they are global failures.
normally i wouldn’t blame religion for national conflicts or border issues, but it is important to realise the islam dissolves all national identity.

Here's a tip:
the next time you get a hankering to visit a region of the world where westerners are reviled, hated and generally considered the enemy, just get a picture book out and look at it.
Idiots.

Hey! Looks like an
ACT OF WAR! It's a perfect excuse
TO BOMB THEM BACK TO THE STONE AGE ! ! !
The stone-age is, of course, a great advancement over the current state of affairs there.

I remember back during round one with Saddam Hussein, I read about a mother who took her children to Iraq to teach them about the horrors of war.

Unfortunately for them, Iran doesn’t care what they love or believe. By being American, they are by default the enemy.
That’s what goes over the heads of these lefty idiots.

These three seem even more dense than previous vacationer “hostages”, since they should know better by now since countries hostile to the U.S. are increasingly taking our citizens and trying them for various “crimes”.
I am certainly not the adventurous type, but I think the only foreign country I’d feel safe going to at this point would be Canada. And I’m not even sure about that!
