Police Heroine Who Brought Down Fort Hood Gunman Lost Half Her Blood After Being Shot
Daily Mail ^ | 11/08/09 | David Gardner and Liz Hazelton

Posted on 11/08/2009 1:23:45 PM PST by BunnySlippers

The lightly-built police heroine who is credited with halting the Fort Hood massacre almost died at the scene after losing half the blood in her body.

Mother of one Sergeant Kimberley Munley confronted gunman Nidal Malik Hasan and, despite being wounded in both legs, brought him down with four shots.

One of the shots cut an artery in her leg, leaving blood pumping out but she still managed to keep firing before collapsing.

Heroine: Kim Munley, a civilian police officer, is the woman who brought Hasan down by shooting him four times before he could slaughter more people.

Medic Francisco Delaserna applied a tourniquet to Sgt Munley as she drifted in and out of consciousness because of blood loss.

'I cut her trousers oopen, tied a tourniquet around her thigh and stopped the bleeding. But she had already lost a lot of blood,' he said.

What has Obama done in recognition of her brave service to our country?

Let me guess - Nothing!

He is too busy talking down to us (as usual) with lectures of not jumping to conclusions because we are a mean and horrible KKK people.

The Brits are smart to see the niche and fill it.

A motto for them: "Doing the job American newspapers don't want to do."

They should start printing in the US (lot's of open capacity), set up newsboxes, and start home delivery.

too bad this heroine did not kill this POS.

The US military of 2009....needs to take a look at what they are allowed to do or not do....

...and ARM all responsible GIs with LOADED handguns both in and out of war zones.

ps....if they are not responsible then they should be mustered out....

Having the freedom is certainly a must.

I think an argument can be made that, because of the leftist social agenda in this country, a large part of that “freedom of choice” has actually been taken away and both men and women have been forced from the home and forced to “contribute” in order to support the funding of the welfare state.

Many analysts have argued that this has so damaged the institution of the family that for every three steps forward we’ve taken, we’ve taken two steps back.

So, I’d argue that it has been a combination of the freedom for people to pursue their own interests and the right of them to keep the fruit of their earnings (the concept of private property) that have led the incredible gains in Western civ. over he past two centuries, both of which the global communists are trying destroy, as it is also a plank of their original platform to destroy the traditional family.

The male police officers are ignored, because the Mighty Media Monolith is so DESPERATE for a female hero, out of its religion of Political Correctness. We actually don’t know for sure yet that this woman’s bullets ever even HIT the killer. When someone is shooting at YOU, it is NOT heroic to shoot back! That is called NORMAL. It is called trying to LIVE.

"Hoping to bring an end to the chaos inside the post deployment readiness center, Sgt. Kimberly Munley, an officer with Fort Hood’s Department of Emergency Services, and Senior Sgt. Mark Todd, K-9 Division, DES, moved in to the fight. According to Todd, as soon as officers pulled up to the scene, people were pointing them in the direction of the shooter.

Hasan reportedly started firing on Todd and Munley, who took cover behind a vehicle. Munley left her cover to pursue the shooter and Todd followed around the other side of the building, where the major was hiding. When Todd looked around the corner of the building, he saw Munley on the ground. She had been shot.

Hasan was hiding behind a light post and firing at people who were fleeing the scene. Todd recalls firing five shots at Hasan. The major fell. Todd then confiscated Hasan’s weapons and cuffed him. The entire exchange between Todd and the gunman lasted less than 45 seconds.

“We did just like we were trained to do…shouting commands and working as a team,” Todd said. “We had no time to feel anything, just to react.”

We also have to pray for the military medics, nurses and physicians who have to treat the traitor on our taxpayers’ dime!!!

The cost of his medical care will run into the $100ks.

Then his defense team of lawyers will cost us another $1million at least!!!

There is a little more to being in “combat” than the pulling the trigger part. You have to be able to sling a M240B, ammunition, body armor, water, etc. and hike up a mountain in pursuit of a rapidly moving enemey. And sometimes, the fighting is hand to hand or knife to knife.

Just because someone is brave enough and skilled enough to trade pistol fire at short range with a terrorist, doesn’t automatically mean that they can do everything else required of an infantry soldier.

That said, I have no problem with women being in combat; however, the physical standards, evaluations, duty assignments should not differ just because of your gender. That means hand to hand training against men, and no preferrential treatment when it comes to the heavy lifting.

Absolutely right!

Lest people think I'm just being a chauvinist, my wife, a US Army veteran, my oldest daughter, a USAF veteran and my youngest daughter a cop and a SWAT team hostage negotiator all agree.

He’s going tomorrow. They have been spending the past two days putting up 20 foot barriers all around the area he will be visiting. He is probably scared s-less to go there.

It is called “active-response tactics”, the courage and skill of initial responders is the only thing that will quickly minimize the carnage... the officer (Sgt. Munley) possessed both. It’s rare for a soldier to actually be armed (and actually have ammo) outside of post duty or a range and it’s been that way for the 10 years I’ve been in.

It’s a stupid rule that needs to be changed.

Send the GPS coords to Iran with a note volunteering the site as an available “test target” for their ICBM program.
