Often when there is a mass shooting, people who knew the gunman find themselves wondering what warning signs they might have missed. So it is in the case of Maj. Nidal Hasan, a 12-year veteran in the U.S. Army, a native-born American, a trained and practicing psychiatrist and the man authorities say opened fire on fellow soldiers at Fort Hood.
Those who look for a ready explanation for the murderous rampage at Fort Hood can choose between two broad narratives: Maybe it had to do with the travails of an Army psychiatrist, dealing with soldiers who had been traumatized, even disfigured, by their war experience; or maybe it had to do with being Muslim.
But this Muslim terrorist narrative won't convince everyone.
Perhaps soldiers in the mayhem of the moment only imagined Hasan said "Allahu Akbar."
It could be Hasan was just struggling with demons of his own making.

NPR: Hasan’s Story Won’t Be Easy To Sort Out
Translation: Hasan’s Story Won’t Be Easy To Spin.
To hell with National Propaganda Radio.
He was a typical Islamofascist.
End of story.
He is an Islamic sleeper like someone else.
The NRA needs to push for ALL AMERICAN troops to be able to carry sidearms on base for protection from these Islamic sleeper agents.
The sophists at NPR could convince themselves that night is day, but they’re going to have a harder time convincing anyone else that this killer was anything but an islamofascist terrorist murderer.
Despicable. Absolutely despicable.
I blame Republicans and conservatives for NPR. They had their opportunity to "defund" NPR and PBS in Bush's first term, but did nothing. Now, my tax dollars are taken from me and given, as an in-kind contribution to the DNC, directly to PBS and NPR.
When a Muslim who has rationalized suicide bombings and advocated their use in Time Square, in public forums, and shouts Allah Akbar before shooting 51 people, THAT is terrorism!
Would someone like to defend an alternate conclusion?
Nobody “imagined” hearing him shouting “Allah Akbar”, because there was no reason for any of the 300 present to assign a Muslim correlation with the shooter.
Exactly right.
The MSM sucks on this story. I’ve got one story that says he “became more devout after his mother’s death” and another that says his mother “apologizes.”
Unless it comes in their daily e-mail from Gibbs, they can’t seem to be able to report on it.
I don’t know why the MSM expects everyone to just suspend judgment until the MSM tells us what we should think about an event or person. Get drilled, MSM. I have plenty of facts to rush to judgment. I am not sitting on this guys jury.
It is my opinion that he is a Muslim terrorist who betrayed his country. He should be tried for murder and treason in a military court. He deserves a trial only because he is a citizen and I don’t begrudge any citizen the protection of the constitution. But once he is found guilty he should be summarily executed.
These idiots do not realize that swift, harsh judgment protects all of us from the spread of this kind of terrorism. Softness increases the risk of death of every American.
Oh. My. G-d.
Can the tone and wording of this be any more sympathetic to Hasan? HE, per NPR, is as much of a victim as dead and wounded. I am almost surprised that NPR does not question the “sensibilities” of offending “the confused” Hasan by having him shot by (audible gasp) a female infidel. Will they call for the police officer to be charged with a hate crime next?
Any way, oldecon, to have a “MegaBarf Alert” added to the title of this one? The article, as my boys would say, “blows chunks.”
NPR
Ostrich with head in the sand.
And we taxpayers fund these pukes.
Adding to the "list" of today's dhimmi "journalist" wankers:
What asses. Why don't you go interview some of these combat vets that are in the hospital right now recovering from their wounds IN PERSON. I hope they knock your lights out.
Hasan didn’t value human life.
Most folks who are opposed to war believe in peaceful protest.
Hasan was willing to kill others, rather than bear the discomfort that would follow a flat-out refusal to serve overseas.
I wonder if Hasan idolized Obama’s terrorist pal, Bill Ayers.
NPR needs to give me a call on my clue phone... I'll explain it to them.
It can be as easy or as hard as our government wants to make it. If they want to make the muslims look good, that’s what the Oval office will do. If they want to blame the military for this guys action, no matter how dumb it sounds, they will do it. If they want to stand up for the beliefs of the American people, they will do that also, but I wouldn’t bet on that option.
Sure. Just like soldiers reading this are only imagining that NPR is squarely on the side of the murderer.
Islam is a religion that uses violence as a tool of the faith. It does not deserve First Amendment protection — no more than would a religion which depends upon live human sacrifices on an altar in an oak grove. I see no differences.
