Incredibly, it appears that Maj. Malik Nidal Hasan, the alleged shooter in the massacre that resulted in at least 12 dead and 31 wounded at Fort Hood today, served on the Homeland Security Policy Institutes presidential transition task force between April 2008 and January 2009 when Barack Obama was inaugurated as the nations 44th president.
I did not get a chance to read the document, but I have it (on another machine) but I do recall something about "Advisory" in the title. Meanwhile, GWU's spin is just that, spin. Might be accurate, might not be.
They say he was "an audience member". I didn't know they put the names of audience members in the final report. IIRC, he was listed as "particpant". Now that might be a distinction without a difference, but I was wiped after yesterday's events, and didn't really take a good look at the document. (You see how you do if just as you return to work from a late lunch, a Giant Voice whoops at you and tells you to "Seek cover immediately". :(, and then you and all your coworkers get locked in. Meanwhile you are getting RumorInt that there is shooting much closer to your location than the initial incident was. (rumorint was as is often the case, apparently wrong)
“Spining spining. Just a coincidence, nothing to see here. Move along.”
Loner, very, very much a loner. Alone in the world.
Atty cousin:”Good American”;
disgruntled worker;
was it “compassion fatigue.”?
“Spining spining. Just a coincidence, nothing to see here. Move along.” -— from the very getgo
You in TX? you were there? Glad you are OK.

Fort Hood attack is 3rd this year by antiwar radicals targeting military on U.S. soil
Frank Cilluffo, a former Bush White House aide who now leads George Washington University’s Homeland Security Policy Institute, drew a wide distinction between unsophisticated individuals who might want to attack U.S. interests — such as four American Muslims who converted in prison and then allegedly asked FBI informants for explosives to bomb Jewish centers in the Bronx in April— and those who engaged in detailed training and planning with al-Qaeda operatives overseas and sought to recruit others — such as Najibullah Zazi, a Denver airport shuttle driver arrested Sept. 19 after allegedly assembling bombmaking materials and driving to New York City, or Bryant Neal Vinas, a New York native who pleaded guilty in January and is cooperating with U.S. authorities after being captured in Pakistan.

Homeland Security event

Even worse: It was a presidential transition event.
Daniel Kaniewski, the institutes deputy director, confirms that Hasan attended task force meetings as an audience member, and stresses that he was not a member of the task force. All of our events are open to the public, Kaniewski says, and when someone RSVPs we put their name in the [report] so everyone knows who was in the room. He says institute staffers recall Hasan attending at least one task force event, and that he RSVPd for several.
We do recall him speaking at one of our events as an audience member, he says, but none of us recall what he actually said. Generally, our events are attended by people in the homeland security community, and Hasan had a very legitimate reason to be there.
How long before we hear, “That’s not the Maj. Malik Nidal Hasan that I know?”

Yes, I agree It’s shocking how the media wants to categorize this guy as a victim - it makes me sick
No I don't really know the guy...just a joke. I do live just right next to Ft. Hood, though, but I know I never saw a guy in a dress and a beenie at 7-11! I'd definitely remember that freakshow!
bump 27...someone beat me to it.
LOL! Well, you know what they say: great minds think alike! :)
Is the Administration lying about this? Is there an Obama-Hasan link?
for reference
Ping for later.
get it cached somewhere.
No one I've told it to believes me - so many things about this administration are hard for honest people to get their heads around.
Rule of thumb on this group: ANYTHING you may hear is possible.
The fact that he was in DHS is old news - YES IT IS.
It was reported in the week or so after the shooting - but it got spiked quickly. THAT should be investigated.
There are still 4 or 5 - maybe more, who knows - Muslims on the board of DHS. Why do you think we no longer have bomb sniffing dogs in the airports??? (Think it has anything to do with Muslims abhorrence of dogs? hmmmm?)
Why do you think we can't "profile" - after all, just because the last 100 terrorists that have killed Americans were Muslim men under 45 is no reason to be wary of young Muslim men. EVERYONE has to be treated as a suspect. And just because no one has committed a terrorist act while flying OUT OF the country, doesn't mean that we shouldn't suspect granny or her 4 year old granddaughter - so put them through humiliating sexual molestation -
Now just where did this inspiration come from, do you think. And just who do you think is laughing their as*es off as they watch ordinary, law-abiding Americans being treated worse than criminals by got'v officials who are breaking constitutional and criminal laws?
What a colossal joke.
Considering what we now know about the resident of the Oval Office, security is compromised thoroughly from the top down.
not just compromised - but, in a large part, guided by the enemy -
Historical BUMP!
Historical BUMP!
