Walter Reed, Week 236, 10/23/09, and Week 237, 10/30/09, Twas the Night Before:
The US Marine Marathon and Halloween
FRONT GATE NOTES October 23, 2009, the Feisty Few Standing Tall
Weddings, Support the Troops events, illness and birthdays took their toll on this breezy cool evening, but the feisty few stood tall on the four corners all evening.
Drivers were honking their support all evening. One driver even rolled down his window and gave an unsolicited donation. (It will be used to support the troops).
Right around 9pm two new big buses arrived with soldiers.: One from the NNMC (National Naval Medical Center and the other an official US Marine Corps bus). We thought that they were returning from dinner, but found out later, the dinner bus arrived about an hour later. The Bus was likely there to carry US Marine runners in the Marine Marathon.
Our camera needed recharging and alas, no photos.

Looked like 5 or 6 moonbats were down the block.

October 30, 2009, Halloween Eve
Another active night although there was no bus due to Halloween. However, we were able to talk with wounded warriors walking in and out of WRAMC.
JVB wore his Halloween devil horns and tail, and pumpkins adorned all 4 corners. We were joined by Joey and Rick from Sterling, who we hope to see more of.
Biker Steve spent awhile with us at the front gate before going back to work inside WRAMC.
Duke and Cheryl visited with us. Duke, an army Vietnam veteran (served with the 503rd), came to WR 3 years ago for life saving cancer treatment. It was successful and both he and Cheryl have stayed in DC, since then to work as volunteers at WRAMC.

DC PING
Hooray!! A Walter Reed AAR just in time to help enjoy the Eagles’ HUGE win over the Giants.
Thanks Kburi for the most interesting and timely AAR.
[Mr] T
Heads up, some real good Sunday evening reading.
I see the weather was cool and the “jackets” came out!
Glad to see you all ON YOUR CORNERS!
Thanks for the reports. I had wondered if I had missed some, but just anxious to hear about all your evenings, I guess.
So, why did Jimmy Valentine’s Brother dress up as Diddly Dee Scozza Fava Beans?
Maryland PING!
It is always marvelous to get these pings, see the thread, the pix & report.
You guys rock!
miss you all
Kudos to all you brave guys for standing out on the corner on Halloween night. Yikes. I hope you were armed. God bless all.
Of course you would know that if you stayed up here for the 'cold' weather instead of always 'running' home to the warm weather. :-))
[Mr] T
Thanks. Yep, the buses are the highlight of the evening, even after we sometimes harass the moonbats.

You are too much!
Actually suppressed a photo of the alledged JVB which looked too much like DDSFB.
Has everyone bought brooms to stick in front of houses in case of the expected sweep? And even if it isn’t, it’s still close enough to be a sweep.
To all of the above plus Joey and Rick and Lurker Bill:
Taxman Bravo Zulu! We appreciate what you are doing for our FRee Republic.
Mrs. Taxman and our lurker FRiends sure enjoyed FReeping with you on 9-10. HELLOFAFREEP!
We’ll have to do it again, sometime!
