Scozzafava Endorses Democrat After Dropping Out of N.Y. Congressional Race
Fox News ^ | 11/01/09

Republican Dede Scozzafava endorsed her former Democratic opponent Sunday in the race for an upstate New York congressional seat, one day after Scozzafava dropped out of the contest.

Scozzafava dropped out after Conservative Party candidate Dough Hoffman experienced a late-in-the-game surge. But on Sunday, Scozzafava backed Democrat Bill Owens -- the announcement was made in a statement send out by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

"I am supporting Bill Owens for Congress and urge you to do the same," she said. "In Bill Owens, I see a sense of duty and integrity that will guide him beyond political partisanship. He will be an independent voice devoted to doing what is right for New York. Bill understands this district and its people, and when he represents us in Congress he will put our interests first."

Can we actually boot her out of the party now? Steyn was right to invent an new epithet for people like her: DIABLO (Democrat in all but label only). RINO definitely was not harsh enough. WTF were the GOP ‘kingmakers’ thinking when they nominated her??

Mojave, Mojave

Are your fingers shaking, your eyes red and your teeth gritting back and forth?

Big deal, your cow has been sent out to pasture.

She will probably get a high level appointment in Obama’s government.

Once again, the whole election, in the end, becomes the raw test of the electorate. We are about to discover how they feel about a lot of things. In this case, the oft-quoted perception that voters dislike manifest disloyalty more than a candidate's ideology. The Conservative Party candidate emerges as the only one among only two left standing who ends up matching his own talking points. The former hand-picked "GOP" candidate proves to be precisely the thing she was accused of being.

High Noon comes when the polls close Tuesday.

And Steele backs scozzafava LoL

As Chairman of the National Republican Party, it was his job to do so.

Blame the NY Republican committee for choosing her.

"This selfless act of releasing her supporters provides voters with the opportunity to unite around a candidate who shares Republican principles......

LOL, it looks like Dede wasn't so "selfless". This article sums it up well: 'Republican' Scozzafava endorses Democrat against Conservative Party's Hoffman

.................. In her statement Friday announcing suspension of her campaign Scozzafava said "I am and have always been a proud Republican. It is my hope that with my actions today, my party will emerge stronger ..."

................Only hours after suspending her campaign for the good of the Republican Party, liberal Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava has now endorsed Democrat Bill Owens for in Tuesday's special election.............

Alrighty then.

Thesearethetimes posted - “Still and all, I see Dede’s endorsement as a good thing. They cannot deny that the two party system effectively vanished years ago. It is well past time to reinstate it.”

Mojave posted - “I don’t see the possibility of another Democrat opponent of the 2nd Amendment in Congress as a good thing.”

Clearly, neither do I :)

In 24 hours she’s proved herself to be a quitter, a deceiver and a turncoat. How can anyone defend, much less support, that?

For those of you who falsely claimed that Owens was more conservative than Dede, thanks for helping to spread the Democrat propaganda.

Hopefully Hoffman will be able to overcome such false information.

If John Boehner and Pete Sessions dared, I bet they would endorse the donk, too.

If the National Republican Congressional Committee had not endorsed, funded and staffed Scozzafava's campaign, she would have had to drop out many weeks ago. They have done *more* damage than Gingrich and Steele, while hiding behind the faceless NRCC organization.

As of this morning, Boehner, the head of the NRCC, was still pushing "moderates" and the big tent: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2375879/posts.

With that, I give you:

Photobucket

The National Republican Congressional Committee

Rep. John Carter, TX (in pic, far left); DC office: (202) 225-3864

Rep. Eric Cantor, VA (third from left); DC office: (202) 225-2815

Rep. John Boehner, OH (fourth from left); DC office: (202) 225-6205

Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, WA; DC office: (202) 225-2006

Rep. Pete Sessions, TX (sixth from left); DC office: (202) 225-2231

Rep. Thaddeus McCotter, MI (not pictured); DC office: (202) 225.8171

Note: Rep. Mike Pence, second from left, strenuously objected to Scozzafava, and refused to endorse her or send her money. In retaliation, pro-leftist house members like those above anonymously told reporters that Pence isn't supporting Dede because he's anti-woman.

The Republican Party is the party of Lincoln. He said:

It was not the mere matter of the separation of the Colonies from the motherland; but that sentiment in the Declaration of Independence which gave liberty, not alone to the people of this country, but, I hope, to the world, for all future time. It was that which gave promise that in due time the weight would be lifted from the shoulders of all men. This is a sentiment embodied in the Declaration of Independence. Now, my friends, can this country be saved upon that basis? If it can, I will consider myself one of the happiest men in the world, if I can help to save it. If it cannot be saved upon that principle, it will be truly awful. But if this country cannot be saved without giving up that principle, I was about to say I would rather be assassinated on this spot than surrender it.

I will not surrender the party of Lincoln. I would rather be assassinated.

The word on the street up here in NY23 is that DeeDee has been contacted by the Obama Adm. and in exchange for her work Owens with the unions, she gets a job in Washington. She made the mistake of going public with it. Hopefully there is time for people to see through her “gracious exit” for what it really was.

In other words, she was only running in order to give the race to Owens, anyway. Thank you, idiots at the GOP in DC. We simply can’t rely on the party mechanism anymore—the Democrats have infiltrated at so many levels there is no difference between the two major parties.
