Do I detect a bit of payback in this story? The UAW rank-and-file rejected a renegotiated contract from Ford intended to bring themselves into parity with GM and Chrysler, as has long been the practice for the Detroit automakers. In doing so, the workers also rejected the counsel of their own union, which had endorsed the new contract. Ford will have to operate at a disadvantage for the next two years in terms of compensation as a result:

Ford was the last American car maker I'd consider buying from. Looks like it is headed down the path of GM and Chrysler.

If I was Ford I’d let them all go and hire new.

The UAW's job won't be complete until every domestic car manufacturer is a ward of the state.

The worthless union thugs want to have everything with no responsibility, accountability, or productivity.
Blame Ford ... they put up with it all the years. It bankrupt GM and Chrsler and they became the magic negroe’s and the bag fastard’s company. CommieHusseinnFwanky motors.
Its easy to buy Toyota, Honda, Hyundai .. quality cars built by quoality proud Americans that want to work.

I’d do like Boeing did and move the plant to a friendly state.

Id do like Boeing did and move the plant to a friendly state. From what has been discussed here the UAW follows the Big 3 into whatever states in which they build plants.

I would march into Federal Court waving a copy of the Sherman Anti Trust Act and accuse the UAW of acting as a competition stifling monopoly in concert with the Executive Branch of the Federal Govt. As owners of Ford’s competitors it benefits the UAW to cause Ford economic hardship. As the US Govt is responsible for this situation , it has created an unfair marketplace and given unfair advantage to GM and Chrysler. Since the US Govt also enforces NLRB rulings, it is in a position of judging any complaint by or against Ford which involves its co owners in those companies. All of this is a massive violation of both the letter and spirit of Sherman.

The union crooks have been milking the car buying public for too many years by perks that up the price of vehicles.

Wow, that sounds right to me, and an unintended consequence of the socialist move of putting UAW into ownership.

SC is a right to work state, thus organizing the new assembly line in Charleston would be tough to do but not impossible. The sad thing for SC taxpayers, is that the state will be subsidizing the new Boeing facility. In my book, corporate welfare is as bad as welfare for those who are able but will not work.

Yep. Declare Chapter 11, take away the union’s retiree health care and turn the pensions over to PBGC
To: Lou Budvis
UAW isn’t negotiating in good faith! They have a conflict of interest.

The union thugs know what the consequences will be. It also demonstrates that the rank and file workers’ IQ is way below the national average. No wonder their productivity is so low.

You make an excellent point. How can an entity with a more than vested interest in the competition begin to honestly “negotiate” with another competitor. Lets get Gettlefinger on the line.
