I’d do like Boeing did and move the plant to a friendly state.

I would march into Federal Court waving a copy of the Sherman Anti Trust Act and accuse the UAW of acting as a competition stifling monopoly in concert with the Executive Branch of the Federal Govt. As owners of Ford’s competitors it benefits the UAW to cause Ford economic hardship. As the US Govt is responsible for this situation , it has created an unfair marketplace and given unfair advantage to GM and Chrysler. Since the US Govt also enforces NLRB rulings, it is in a position of judging any complaint by or against Ford which involves its co owners in those companies. All of this is a massive violation of both the letter and spirit of Sherman.

Yep. Declare Chapter 11, take away the union’s retiree health care and turn the pensions over to PBGC

The union thugs know what the consequences will be. It also demonstrates that the rank and file workers’ IQ is way below the national average. No wonder their productivity is so low.

Afraid not. Union state - can't do that. Well, I guess if you fully shut down all operations and started from scratch in a non-union state. But in the meantime, you might as well write off all your physical assets in that union state, because you won't find workers to disassemble and ship your property elsewhere.

OH - and lest we forget, Ford mortgaged the whole ship to stay in business. So I doubt their creditors would allow them to shut down and start over elsewhere - no capital to invest.

So Ford is really behind the 8ball, and greedy UAW members are to blame. UAW forced Chrysler and GM into bankruptcy - and into the government's hands. They tried hard to get Ford in the same position, but Ford persevered.

Time to close the doors? The UAW can't afford to pay their members long.

What no one will say is that most of these jobs are semi-skilled labor at best, and these worker were way overpaid for the skills required of the job. For years, American auto workers were protected from competition, and the unions had a strangle hold on the companies, but once that ended, then it became apparent just how overpaid these workers are.

It would be nice if we could all make that much money by snapping parts into place on an assembly line, but that sweet gig is gone forever.
