Woman kills neighbour's cats with anti-freeze to stop them urinating on her strawberries

A wealthy woman who poisoned her neighbour's Abyssinian cats with tuna laced with anti-freeze has been ordered to pay £1,500 in compensation to the distraught owner.

Katherine Hall, 57, put the deadly tins of tuna in her garden to stop Nush and Mr Baz urinating on her strawberries.

The court heard that the five-and-a-half year old cats died in agony a few days later.

When police searched Hall's garden they found remnants of the deadly meal, and a cat-scaring machine.

Owner Andrew Boyd said it was a 'disgrace' that Hall did not receive a harsher punishment.

'I don't want to see anyone going to jail, but she should have been banned from having animals, and given community service at least,' he said.

I don’t torture animals.

Havahart and Liquid Fence, I have used both of these and there is another one but I am not finding the correct brand name. There are some brands that indicate you can spray on the vegetation.

I do not like spraying it on the plants so I spray approximately a three foot area around the perimeter of the whole garden. Keeps the darn rabbits and deer from clipping my snow pea off as well as lettuce varieties. I have also sprinkled ‘blood’ meal around the perimeter as well, rabbits do not like to have that smell on them. But it is not practical as the rain dissipates it whereas these sprays do not get wash off.

For the raccoons I have found electric fence to be the only thing that stops them. It does not kill them just zaps them real nice. I have not found the raccoons care about strawberries just corn. The deer are a ‘seasonal’ pain. They like to snip off the new green leaves in the spring but they tend to stay away until the little ones get large enough to come out in the open.

She's got so much tuna, she should have trapped 'em, driven 'em to the nearest farthest animal shelter and made the owners haul out there to bail out the little darlings. After a couple of long drives and embarrassment, maybe the owners would keep the critters inside.

Of course, driving out with specially purchased cat traps isn't cost-free either but it beats pouring pee on the neighbor's tomatoes...

Always chain the trap down. Better yet use a video camera to catch the thief.

Had a friend who did that in southern MD. His and and his wife were quite allergic to cats. He would catch the cats in his yard and relocate them to the pound. THe cats were chipped and the neighbor got incensed about paying the fees. She tried to take the trap and was caught on video. Cops arrested her and the animal control took all the animals (she had way to many for her circumstances).

Its a useful approach.

Yes she was. Sadly she died this year at the age of 20. She was a beautiful Lilac point Siamese. We have another Siamese but we sure miss our Lilac. When she got to the point she didn’t want to eat my 5 Shih tzus would go over & lick her & check up on her. Finally we knew it was time & we took her to the vet. She is buried here with her brother.

Katherine Hall. Spoiled rich cat killer.

You are aware that FR is a forum for CONSERVATIVE thought, are you not? A conservative would have no concern about the income of the perpetrator.

This article was written in a specific way to inflame the working class masses and you and several others on here took the bait.

It could be just as easily written that a spoiled, rich cat owner, who couldn't be bothered with controlling her pets, got her comeuppance when a neighbor finally had had enough.

I can assure you that if I had been feeding my garden food to my children, washed or not, and then found out that a neighbor's cat had been pissing on the food, I would not be a happy camper.

And if my cat turned up dead because I allowed it to roam and destroy other's property, I would blame myself for not taking the care to control my pet.

Ms. Hall is a person. The cats were just cats. Do YOU plan on putting the poison in her food personally or just wishful thinking?

reminds me of a story from my hometown......a certain cat was known for annoying a certain neighborhood with an odd wailing noise...many complaints were made to no avail....one day while it was carrying on they all heard a gunshot. the cat was found dead......the local cops arrived to look into this and there was NO ONE who heard or saw a thing. the cat owner carried on about it and the cops did a cursory investigation, but no one would point a finger or say anything. they had a much quieter neighborhood after that and the cat owner moved away.

I would love to be able to tell Ms. Hall. Some time in the next Five years your food will be poisoned. It might be at home. It might happen at a restaurant or a friends house. But some time you will eat something that will boil you from the inside out.

This is not equivalence. In order for it to be equivalent, she would have to be breaking into someone's garden on their property. Nice try though.

I hope that was sarcasm. Pick your poison...rabbit piss, 'coon piss, deer piss, cat piss, fruit-picker piss. That's why we wash our fruits and vegetables...I was taught that as a toddler.

Ok, would you let me know where you live? I'm tired of cleaning out my cat's litter box and would like to send him over to use your garden instead.

I stand by my position that a nutcase who would purposely serve up a fatal poison to a neighbor's pet cats, while comparing it to a "bad meal at a restaurant," has a serious screw loose.

Did you read the entire article or are you merely reacting to the small excerpt that the poster chose to share? Are you aware that these cats did not die at home, but were euthanized by the vet? Are you aware that even after the first cat was put to sleep, they continued to allow the other cat out to roam the neighborhood and subsequently also become poisoned?

Do you honestly believe the cat owner's have no culpability in this whole affair?

CDC Reports Prevalence Of Worms Transmitted By Dogs And Cats To Humans Is Higher Than Previously Understood

Cats are very, very bad carriers or parasitic worms. If they are pee'ing in your garden they are crapping in it to, and you are eating all kinds of deadly parasites and I guarantee you cannot "wash them off" and even some of them cannot be "cooked out when in cyst form". So, if you have a cat using your garden as a litter box, I guarentee you are infected with worms that will eventually kill you. This problem is far worse than anybody knows.

Read the article?

How long have you been on freerepublic?

Half the “fun” is posting on a headline, assume that’s all you need to know, and go from there.

I, for one, am amused that the owner of the cats wanted some type of sentence that would “prohibit” the “killer” from owning pets. I’m still trying to wrap my brain around that one.
