Okay, here we go. Can the Phillies repeat? Now that she is no longer the junior senator, do the Yankees break "The Hillary Curse"?

Thing is, the Phils play “small ball” very well, which is why it surprised me that Rollins bunted to lead off the first. He can hit and he’s wicked fast. You need to get him on and bunting is a low-percentage way to do it.

Rollins stolen base...

Rollins made it to first in the top of the eighth.

Steels second base shortly thereafter.

One man on second, nobody out for the Phillies.

What a game it was with the back to homers. I have gone to many, many Dodger games over the years, including probably about 20 of them the year I graduated high school. That moment may have well been the loudest I ever heard the crowd.

There were two sustained standing O’s I remember. One was for the Koufax first no-hitter against the Mets. The other was truly remarkable. The hated Willie McCovey, in his last at bat before retirement, hit a sac fly. The Dodger crowd gave him a standing O that lasted what seemed to be 15 minutes.

Somewhere I have a photo of Garvey holding my son at age 2 1/2 for his first Dodger game.

I agree. Why kill yourself to get on first, when the right hit could give you second or even third.

Looks like the hook...

Yep, Yankees will replace the new pitcher that came in at the top of the 8th.

I believe a new pitcher started the inning for the Yankees.

Very nice Doug. The game was different back then. It was a golden time for me.

It seemed every time I went to a Pirates game they were always playing the Dodgers. Fun games.
Of course they were still from Brooklyn then.
Will never get over the fact they are in LA.

I took a photo of Sandy and Steve at the Freeper Inaugural Ball, the night Bush was sworn in the first time.

I doubt your son will even care about that photo, but between you and I, very cool bud.

I modeled my swing after Garvey to cure a mean upper cut I developed.

For about the first half of my last season of regulation hard ball at the age of 45 in an over thirty league in Burbank, I hit over 450 with one home run. It was an accident, believe me. LOL

Yankees are bringing in a new pitcher, after a batter sacrifices to right.

Phillies have a man on first and third with two down in the top of the eighth.

Phillies still lead 2 zip.

I saw the Pirates kick the Dodgers’ rear ends in a playoff game, I think 11-0. I was just out of college and teaching at the time. I took the day off sick. When you take off sick, you have to call the secretary before the end of school to say you are feeling better and will back the next day or to keep the sub another day.

So I am in the concession area in the left field pavilion calling on the phone to say I’m feeling better, when the secretary hears the bellowing of —— TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALLGAME! She got a good laugh out of that. Everyone, including the principal, knew I was at the ball game.

He was playing heads up ball. Glad to see it.

Werth is up. Two down two on, first and third.

A little poke gets one.

That throw to first was dangerous.

You toss that ball wild and it’s 3 zip with a runner on third.

Bases loaded as Phillie batter walks.

Three walks issued by Yankees top of the eighth.
