Football Great Clint Didier Running for U.S. Senate in Washington (Against Patty "the brain" Murray)
Redcounty ^ | 10/23/09 | Tom Forbes

Posted on 10/23/2009 9:55:59 AM PDT by pissant

Shortly before Super Bowl XXII, Clint Didier had a dream that his team, the Washington Redskins would be down, but come back to win, and that he would catch a touchdown pass.

That dream came true.

Later that year, Didier dreamed that he would no longer be with the the Redskins and watch from afar as they played in another Super Bowl.

That dream also came true.

Now, Clint dreams of going back to Washington, D.C., this time as a U.S. Senator, to rein in what he sees as a government out of countrol.

Disgusted at the confirmation of Obama administration officials such as Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, who failed to pay social security or self-employment taxes from 2001 to 2004, and former "Green Jobs" czar Van Jones, who has Marxist affiliations and believes in 9/11 conspiracy theories, Didier announced at a Tea Party held last month in the Tri-Cities that he was considering running for the U.S. Senate next year against Democrat Patty Murray. In his speech, he proclaimed that "I can honestly say I do not trust my government" and that "I, Clint Didier, want to answer the call to service. I want to work toward a return to the Constitution and its precepts."

Thanks for the ping. I remember his playing days well — as a TE he lined up next to “The Hogs” on the great Redskins teams of the ‘80s. Didn’t know squat about his political views until a minute ago. ...and he looks promising.

Exactly! In this “American-Idol-ed” version of America, name recognition plays an even larger role in (most) candidates’ success.

Republican candidates from Eastern Wasington always lose to Democrats from Seattle in statewide races. Western Washington is where the voters are, and if we can’t run relatively well in the Seattle metro area we can’t win.

I think it’s hyperbole to compare Reichert with Specter. Reichert is a moderate-to-conservative (closer to moderate), while Specter is liberal-to-moderate (closer to moderate). Reichert would make anacceptable Senator from a state like Washington, and we might be able to elect someone more conservative to replace him in the House (isn’t Jack Kemp’s son active in the district?) in the more favorable 2010 environment.

I don’t know about that. Have you seen that cow Debbie “I can feel Global Warming when I’m flying” Stabenow?

I would say Reichert lies somewhere between Specter and Norm Coleman.

He’s no Slade Gorton who I was the most conservative Washington Senator since... I don’t know Harry Cain was a moderate right?

Not a lot of Republican Senators in Washington State the past many decades. 3. Gorton, Cain, and Evans (RINO).

A total of 5 Senate election wins since the depression. Not counting the theft in 2000.

“I can honestly say I do not trust my government” and that “I, Clint Didier, want to answer the call to service. I want to work toward a return to the Constitution and its precepts.”

Well said, Clint.

OK - who is going to help Clint win this seat back from one of the most liberal Senators in Congress? I will be running for State House next year, so will have my hands full. But if we do not help him, who will? And if we do not help him, we have not reason to complain if Murray gets reelected - a horrible, horrible thought.

I think Murray is an order of magnitude smarter thank Barbara “Call me senator, not ma’am - and all blacks think alike” - Boxer. That said, we can only hope that both are defeated next time around.

OK, the first one I have seen and heard (now I will probably have nightmares for a week). But who is the second one?

That’s one of my Senators. The practically retarded, and eternally annoying Sherrod Brown, one of the most liberal men on the planet.

ANOTHER Cap n' Traitor for Senate? Ugh. No thanks. Amazing how -- by sheer coincidence -- the "best" candidate the RNC can find to run for the Senate in EVERY state are the MOST liberal Republicans they have in that region. Seriously, that's the "best" we can do? There's not a single viable Republican in the entire state except that guy?

Half the cap n' traitors are being promoted for their treason. I think the only one that hasn't been drafted by the NRSC yet is Mary Bono. Guess they'll be giving her a call ASAP if the whole Fiorana situation doesn't work out. And what will they do with NJ? Two Senate seats but three cap n' traitors. I guess one of the RINOs will have to go home empty handed.

I agree we have to deal with the cards we're dealt in each state and we have basically nobody against people like Mike Castle but this is really getting ridiculous. I love how freepers are tearing their hair out over the current "RINOs" in the Senate but many seem totally complacent with electing half a dozen "Republicans" that are 10X further left than "Manchurian captain queeg John McInsane" has ever been. The RNC's slogan next year should be "Show Obama You're OKAY with Cap n' Trade -- by voting for our Senate candidates!"

“Harry Cain was a moderate right?”

No, not at all. Cain was a friend and ardent supporter of Joe McCarthy. In his unsuccessful reelection campaign in 1952, he accused his opponent, then-Congressman Henry “Scoop” Jackson, of being a Communist sympathizer. Jackson was one of the most pro-military Democrats in Congress.

I met Clint Didier at Beck’s “Take the Field”
in Seattle last month. He is really a big
guy who introduced himself as a farmer. He
said nothing about his football career.

OK... He gave me a dvd of his Tea Party Speech.
How can I get it downloaded to y’all???

...Jo

Wow, it sounds like we might finally have a candidate who can beat Patty Murray.

On another issue, the Seattle Times had an article this week, Thursday, I think, about the school district lowering standards to allow a D average for sports eligibility and graduation. At the end of the article they said that they had already been dropping failing grades for the past seven years. Now, how would this effect sports competition as well as college entrance?

Good question...if you can copy off the DVD, and the file is in a format that YouTube recognizes, then you can probably upload it to YouTube from your PC.

Problem is, you’d probably need Didier’s consent to upload it.

Alternatively, his campaign staff may already have the speech uploaded...drop them a line and ask.

I have the dvd of Clint Didier’s Tea Party speech
and it is really full of spit and energy. He’ll
make a formicable opponent to Murphy. I can email
it to someone who would be willing to convert the
file for posting here.

No... the video is not on Youtube and I don’t recommend
that. Just want the video to be posted here.

Thx... Jo

His wikipedia article paints a schizophrenic picture on whether he was a conservative or moderate.
