Dispatch from the Department of Pot-Meet-Kettle . . .
Katie Couric has demanded "humility" from Wall Streeters making seven-figure incomes. This from a woman pulling down . . . eight figures [an estimated $15 million/year] from CBS while cementing the Evening News' caboose status.
Couric made her hypocritical plea in her "Notebook" segment yesterday, commenting on Pres. Obama's pay czar's plan to cut compensation for employees of financial firms that have received bail-out bucks [emphasis added]:

If government bails out the media, I want to see their pay cut 90% too
Exactly.
Why does CBS still pay her? Isn’t she LAST in the ratings?
Doesn’t GE/NBC/MSNBC fall under that umbrella?
Where do they get the right?
I suppose the door is now open for a future President from our side to set levels of compensation in the media (heh heh!)
“If government bails out the media, I want to see their pay cut 90% too”
Retroactively, say for 20 years!
I would ask the bith; which is the more deserving, the one who reads what others accomplish, or the one who accomplishes the managagement of a company that must produce something of value. Check out the earnings of Doprah.
Katie is another affirmative action beneficiary with a disordered mind. If Obama wants to force doctors to accept a reasonable annual salary, and we are already punishing Wall Street and bankers, how long will it take to focus on the bloated media?
In the good ole' days, she would at best, be drawing a GS 12 salary, IMO. ...still not impressed with Katie.
Obviously the government should be capping the salaries of overrated media talking heads. For the good of the country.
CBS doesn’t get any financing from the government. TARP companies are getting unlimited funding from the Treasury at Treasury borrowing rates (which are many percentage points lower than what these companies would have to pay by issuing debt). They are making excess profits off the government teat, and bloating Uncle Sam’s balance sheet. I see restricting exec pay as a good way to wean them off. The sooner they stop leeching off the taxpayer, meaning the sooner they pay off their debt to the Treasury, the sooner their execs can pay themselves whatever they want.
Reminds me of a Dale Murphy quote (always a classy guy) when he was mentioned for MVP consideration on a truly lousy Atlanta Braves team:
"Why would I be the most valuable player? The Braves could have finished last without me."
“...Where do they get the right?...”
They are all dimoCRACKS. ‘Nuff said.
I don’t believe the media will ever get the salary focus - they are too important in their support for the Obamanation.
Well the FCC regs CBS et al. Katie will have to take a 90% pay cut if they follow through on their plan to set pay for ALL Companies Reg’d by the Fascist Zero Admin.
Keep talking Katie...you idiot.
You’ll notice that TARP recipient GE Capital is exempt from these pay restrictions...
if it wasn’t fer 8 figures, she’d have no figure at all!
Apparently its all up to the Pay Czar, he can exempt his friends or favorites.
