Breaking: Palin Supports Hoffman
The Weekly Standard ^ | October 22, 2009 08:17 PM | John McCormack

Posted on 10/22/2009 5:47:30 PM PDT by avg_freeper

THE WEEKLY STANDARD just received a statement from Sarah Palin endorsing conservative Doug Hoffman for Congress:

The people of the 23rd Congressional District of New York are ready to shake things up, and Doug Hoffman is coming on strong as Election Day approaches! He needs our help now.

The votes of every member of Congress affect every American, so it's important for all of us to pay attention to this important Congressional campaign in upstate New York. I am very pleased to announce my support for Doug Hoffman in his fight to be the next Representative from New York's 23rd Congressional district. It's my honor to endorse Doug and to do what I can to help him win, including having my political action committee, SarahPAC, donate to his campaign the maximum contribution allowed by law.

Our nation is at a crossroads, and this is once again a "time for choosing."

The federal government borrows, spends, and prints too much money, while our national debt hits a record high. Government is growing while the private sector is shrinking, and unemployment is on the rise. Doug Hoffman is committed to ending the reckless spending in Washington, D.C. and the massive increase in the size and scope of the federal government. He is also fully committed to supporting our men and women in uniform as they seek to honorably complete their missions overseas.

And best of all, Doug Hoffman has not been anointed by any political machine.

Doug Hoffman stands for the principles that all Republicans should share: smaller government, lower taxes, strong national defense, and a commitment to individual liberty.

Political parties must stand for something. When Republicans were in the wilderness in the late 1970s, Ronald Reagan knew that the doctrine of "blurring the lines" between parties was not an appropriate way to win elections. Unfortunately, the Republican Party today has decided to choose a candidate that more than blurs the lines, and there is no real difference between the Democrat and the Republican in this race. This is why Doug Hoffman is running on the Conservative Party's ticket.

Republicans and conservatives around the country are sending an important message to the Republican establishment in their outstanding grassroots support for Doug Hoffman: no more politics as usual.

You can help Doug by visiting his official website below and joining me in supporting his campaign:

This statement will be on Palin's Facebook page soon.

Put Scozzafava in the House, and she will vote with 0bama 99% of the time. Exactly what difference does it make if it's the Democrat or Scozzafava?

No difference.

But that's trying to use logic on a RINObot.

dooooood....you are so completely, utterly, fully wrong.

your suggestion is analogous to what the blacks did...’we must vote for obama because he’s blaaaaaackkkkk.

get it?

we’re for this because it’s based on PRINCIPAL, not PARTY.

Putting Scozzafava in the House as an R, would be much worse than having Olympia Snowe in the US Senate as an R. She is exactly the kind of vermin that would vote for 0bamacare, cap and trade , card check, etc, and piss on Republicans every single time. For this country's very soul to be saved, Scozzafava HAS to lose, even if it means means the Democrat winning.

Not only is your scenario correct, it would be even worse. She'd also be touted and built-up by the MSM as a new face of bipartisanship, blah, blah, blah, etc., etc. and we'd be seeing her all over television. They'd use her as a club to beat-up on conservatives nationally throughout the 2010 election cycle.

I'm watching that carefully.... I think at the very least it is a indication she is not going to party with RINOS , no way , no how!

Could this be a sign Palin may disavow her affiliation with the OP(formerly the GOP)?

I am asking conservatives to present a united front and back the Republican party and not the third party.”

Umm..to what end?
So the “Republican candidate” can go to congress and consistently vote for 0bama's agenda?

These kind of arguments should be settled in primaries “

There were no primaries.

Does’nt matter how conservative some blue dog Dems are, the party leadership and congressional committees are dominated by liberals”

None of whom is more liberal than Scozzafava.
You still don't seem to get it. it's not about having an "R" in someone name. It's about stopping 0bozo's demented mission to destroy this country.

She'd also be touted and built-up by the MSM as a new face of bipartisanship

Good point, and any Marxist policy she signed on to would have had "Republican input and support" when it became the inevitable disaster as planned.

The DemoRats would "own" nothing.

I would normally be on your side in this debate, but this situation seems quite different than a Presidential election where a vote for a third party will definitely elect the Democrat.

This Republican IS a Democrat, and opposes everything we stand for. The Independent IS a Republican who agrees with what we stand for.

There seems to be a good chance that Hoffman can win, and this would put another vote in the R column. The other two choices are both against us in every way that counts.

I agree with Sarah.

You are exactly right.
I never even thought of that angle.
In effect Scozzafava could be like an open wound for the GOP, throughout 2010 and maybe even beyond. She has to be stopped at all costs.

In most cases, not just a color thing, the kids who come out of public school starting with kindergarten are already
Dem lemmings. Add into the mix, MSM.

Demographics is the key word. Many don’t understand how
things have changed and not for the better.

Your state is not the same N.H. my several 5th great grandfathers served in the Rev. War from.

Time to replace Michael Steele with a “ball-buster”. I invite everyone to send $25, as I did, to the Hoffman campaign. Newt can go hang out with his liberal buddies.

Certainly true, I noticed that Hoffman’s numbers have shot up from 16% to 23% in two weeks. I don’t have the newest numbers, but I have a feeling that as the election comes closer to November 3, a decent number of people disillusioned with the GOP as a “lock-step” party and switch from Scozzafava to Hoffman. I’m not familiar with NY election law, but I’m sensing a runoff between Hoffman and the democRAT if there isn’t a 50 percent win. Can anyone edify me on the rules for runoffs in NY?

Hey, as a former drug rep, I can tell you, there is a LOT of money in non-narcotic sleeping pills. Will Mitt’s book have any side effects? Can you drive while taking it?

The Republican RINO has the NRA endorsement( I think).

The Dem candidate does’nt.

Republican will vote for Boehner.

The Dem will vote for pelosi.

How is the Republican worse than the democrat.

By the way, that quote sounds so familiar, but my brain is constipated (LOL...mental block)...is that from a movie?

Which county is this?

In my state CA, even the worst RINO Republican is better than a Democrat.
