Breaking: Palin Supports Hoffman
The Weekly Standard ^ | October 22, 2009 08:17 PM | John McCormack

Posted on 10/22/2009 5:47:30 PM PDT by avg_freeper

THE WEEKLY STANDARD just received a statement from Sarah Palin endorsing conservative Doug Hoffman for Congress:

The people of the 23rd Congressional District of New York are ready to shake things up, and Doug Hoffman is coming on strong as Election Day approaches! He needs our help now.

The votes of every member of Congress affect every American, so it's important for all of us to pay attention to this important Congressional campaign in upstate New York. I am very pleased to announce my support for Doug Hoffman in his fight to be the next Representative from New York's 23rd Congressional district. It's my honor to endorse Doug and to do what I can to help him win, including having my political action committee, SarahPAC, donate to his campaign the maximum contribution allowed by law.

Our nation is at a crossroads, and this is once again a "time for choosing."

The federal government borrows, spends, and prints too much money, while our national debt hits a record high. Government is growing while the private sector is shrinking, and unemployment is on the rise. Doug Hoffman is committed to ending the reckless spending in Washington, D.C. and the massive increase in the size and scope of the federal government. He is also fully committed to supporting our men and women in uniform as they seek to honorably complete their missions overseas.

And best of all, Doug Hoffman has not been anointed by any political machine.

Doug Hoffman stands for the principles that all Republicans should share: smaller government, lower taxes, strong national defense, and a commitment to individual liberty.

Political parties must stand for something. When Republicans were in the wilderness in the late 1970s, Ronald Reagan knew that the doctrine of "blurring the lines" between parties was not an appropriate way to win elections. Unfortunately, the Republican Party today has decided to choose a candidate that more than blurs the lines, and there is no real difference between the Democrat and the Republican in this race. This is why Doug Hoffman is running on the Conservative Party's ticket.

Republicans and conservatives around the country are sending an important message to the Republican establishment in their outstanding grassroots support for Doug Hoffman: no more politics as usual.

You can help Doug by visiting his official website below and joining me in supporting his campaign:

This statement will be on Palin's Facebook page soon.

You haven’t been paying enough attention. Either that or you’re just another panty-waist RINO apologist with no core values.

You are full of BS.

Is that the new campaign slogan for the OP(formerly the GOP)?

Does the huckster support Hoffman?

So far, I believe he's refused to endorse a candidate.

It is Conservative Republican. and Hoffman will caucus with the Republicans.

The sainted William F. Buckley, Jr. and his brother, James Buckley, both ran on the Conservative line.

For those who may not remember,

In 1970, [James Buckley] was elected to the U.S. Senate as a member of the Conservative Party of New York, winning 38.7 percent of the vote in a three-way race, and served from 1971 until 1977. To date he has been the only member of his party, and the last member of a third party, elected to the U.S. Senate.

That's according to Wikipedia -- and, in this case, it's accurate. And Buckley did, of course, caucus with the Republicans.

Yeah you're right, the best way to advance the Conservative movement would have been to endorse the ACORN approved, porkulus supporting, card check approving RINO.

This will be a symbolic victory for Conservatism. But the GOP will probably NOT get the message.

” polls suggest that the Dem is heading for a easy win”

The latest polls that have been published were from the 15th. That's almost an eternity in politics. Much has happened in this race, even before Palin’s endorsement this evening. I think you'll be surprised when they release the next poll.

I am paying attention and I am not a loser like you who thinks getting Dems elected is something to cheer for.

That's the OP way to look at her decision. The other interpretation is she's sending a message to the OP(formerly the GOP) that she may leave the OP and run as a Conservative.

Sometimes the stars align and PREPARATION (The Tea Party movement and Sarah Palin) does meet OPPORTUNITY (Hoffman as a “conservative” candidate in defiance of the RINO’s)

Perhaps, it would certainly not hurt Duncan to show up there and campaign for a day or two with a Fort Benning alumni.

Amanda Carpenter from the Washington imes just tweeted:

"As Palin endorses Hoffman, Pawlenty declines to weigh in the race. Tells reporters tonite he hasnt been folo'ing"

Keep the popcorn handy.

So why should Palin and Bachmann just do nothing? If the endorsements of these two ladies can bring more attention to Hoffman’s campaign that’s all the better. Why you are so negative is beyond me.

I doubt it; James Buckley certainly wouldn’t be, and he is still around?

It is just that history shows third party Conservative candidates have never won anything.

The memory of Perot is still fresh in my mind.

I followed the Buckley election.

Too bad you haven’t read my other posts.
This situation can only play out in a situation
like this.

Today, James would not win a state race
jut as Reagan would not win a gov. in Calif.
