What is on appearances possibly just another right wing publicity stunt is actually something that law enforcement and military commanders need to notice and to put in check. The "Oathkeepers" are a group supposedly dedicated to keeping the "Oath" to protect the Constitution. Fact is, they already took that oath, This new thing is an attempt to rile up disdain for the Obama Administration, masquerading as concern for American freedom.
Who are the "Oathkeepers?" Groups of law enforcement and military personnel who swear a new oath of allegiance to ideals put forth by the group, not by consent of the governed or as proscribed by the Constitution these "patriots" claim to be defending. Need convincing that they aren't just paramilitary malcontents who happen to be wearing uniforms? Look at their website.
On www.oathkeepers.org they list ten "Orders we will not obey" which include some admirable ideals. That some of what they espouse is admirable isn't in question. Of course every soldier has the obligation to fight orders which, for example, might constitute a war crime. Where the problems lie are with the motivations and perceptions of their place.
Look around the Oathkeepers site more and some troubling things show themselves. They say "We are not advocating violence" yet that is exactly the subtext of what is on the site. References aren't made to some possible threat to the Constitution in the future, but to the sitting government and their Commander in Chief, President Barack Obama.
The Oathkeepers are nothing more than an anti-Obama paramilitary group. And what they are doing should be reprimanded by their chain of command. To pledge to willfully obey orders is in direct conflict with the Uniform Code of Military Justice, or UCMJ. Some of what they suggest sounds like conspiracy to commit sedition.

Can anyone get to the OK website?
I’m having a problem.
Interesting ping
Our Civil Society requires the adherence to the rule of law in order to be sustainable.
The Supreme Law of the land is the US Constitution.
Anyone who swears an oath to protect and defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic, and then ignores the laws is guilty of treason and sedition. A rogue congress and current administration is a prime example of those crimes. They believe they are above public scrutiny and question. This is the greatest threat to freedom, the enemy on the inside.
I commend anyone who takes their oath of office seriously.
I back anyone who will resist tyranny, Marxism, socialism, or any of the ism’s that are a detriment to the survival of a free USA.
I strongly support Oath Keepers. I am predicting that the movement will gain strength throughout the nation’s armed forces and law enforcement agencies as the grim reality of what Obama intends becomes more apparent.
subtexts and emanations again.
The left always loves to put words and ideas in other peoples mouths.

I hate to break it to everyone but the military and law enforcement will more than likely split down the middle. Just from my direct observations.
Jeff Musall posted a comment that speaks volumes about which side of the trough he feeds out of; “Ir is interesting, Tim - not a peep when Bush herded protesters into “free speech zones” or people were arrested for wearing t-shirts not approving of Bush -then, an African American liberal becomes pres, and all at once the entire country is in jeopardy..

I'd put it closer to 60/40 with the "good guys" in the majority.
Finally got in.
Thanks
I’m not former military, but a former firefighter, and I sir will stand with you and them too!
Little jeffie soiled his pants and decided to tell the world.
Good job jeffie, though next time you need to go number two let someone know so they can hold your hand to the bathroom.
The Oathkeepers are an idea who’s time has well come and these leftist bedwetters like jeffie had better realize America will not become Venezuela or China without many decades of “civil unrest”.
In a nutshell, the “Oathkeepers” will not do anything that is against the Bill of Rights. Well...how dare they protect and defend the Constitution! </sarc>
The Obama admin is very good at riling up disdain for his admin. Very typical to attempt to discount their concern for American freedom...is it possible to be too concerned about it?
Ya got that right, bub. Sportutegrl is armed and fabulous, just don't get in front of my 'tank'.
I would agree with that.
“Those laws were pretty much discarded almost 100 years ago.”
Communists were being convicted of sedition into the 1960s. Some of this crowd, if in the military, could be prosecuted for a violation of 10 USC 894, the penalty for which is death. The rest of this bunch can be prosecuted now for being engaged in a seditious conspiracy under 18 USC 2384, good for 20 years or of 18 USC 2387, good for ten years or 18 USC 2388, good for 20 years.
Its generally not advisable to get involved with groups like this. The government can play real hardball and most of the fellow travelers in these groups, despite their big talk, literally wet their pants when when the Feds come knocking. Frankly, its funny to watch.
Somehow I doubt this guy wants to admit that the “free speech zones” grew from the Clinton garden after the mess in Seattle during the WTO talks or whatever it was that sparked it.
The Oathkeepers are nothing more than an anti-Obama paramilitary group.

LOL!
The administration is nothing more than an anti-American group of fascists.
Hey, is anyone out there surreptitiously reading this looking for something fishy to report?
Molon labe you mofos!
