What happened to Kathleen Sebelius's eye?

Considering the name of this blog, we took great concern with the left Eye of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, which appeared puffy on Wednesday while she testified to a Senate committee.

Sebelius had a basal cell carcinoma removed from her forehead on Tuesday during a successful standard outpatient procedure, according to HHS spokeswoman Jenny Backus.

My dad tends to get the closed black eye, and huge bags under his eyes, after they work on his forehead.

If you look really closely, there’s a skin-colored bandage almost immediately above her eyebrow just above where the bridge of the nose starts.

It's a pretty sizable bandage. Most people I've known who had cancers removed from their faces have had Mohs surgery, which is very precise. Typically they have little more than the round dot bandages afterward. From the size of the bandage, I'm not surprised by the swelling around her eye. These tissues are delicate, and the fluids tend to accumulate there.

I had a black eye this summer from a blow to my cheekbone. I was amazed at the swelling (even with ice), and watched over several weeks how the colors drifted lower onto my cheek.

I don't wish her ill, but I wouldn't be disappointed if she decided to retire and enjoy her remaining years of good health - be they few or many.

Hmmm.wonder how long the secretary had to wait for her procedure? Do yo think a board certified plastic surgeon or was it a physicians assistant who performed the procedure?
do ya think she had a co-pay?

She had had surgery the previous day to remove a tumorous growth.

With the positioning of the pen in her right hand, it reminds me of one of my old aunts with that scrunched up face and gravelly voice telling you about the evils of tobacco while chain-smoking.
