If you look really closely, there’s a skin-colored bandage almost immediately above her eyebrow just above where the bridge of the nose starts.

It's a pretty sizable bandage. Most people I've known who had cancers removed from their faces have had Mohs surgery, which is very precise. Typically they have little more than the round dot bandages afterward. From the size of the bandage, I'm not surprised by the swelling around her eye. These tissues are delicate, and the fluids tend to accumulate there.

I had a black eye this summer from a blow to my cheekbone. I was amazed at the swelling (even with ice), and watched over several weeks how the colors drifted lower onto my cheek.

I don't wish her ill, but I wouldn't be disappointed if she decided to retire and enjoy her remaining years of good health - be they few or many.
