Obama to skip anniversary of the fall of Communism

It is pretty clear why the president is refusing to accept the personal invitation of the German chancellor and attend festivities marking the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
It would smack of American triumphalism - our success in defeating perhaps the most odious of all the odious ideologies of the 20th century. Obama doesn't do "triumphalism." That would place America above other nations - something that he has explicitly condemned.
So he will be conspicuous by his absence. And another European ally has been embarrassed by this president.

Of course hell skip it: hes in mourning. I figured I had arrived to the thread to late to post the above remark...and that someone had beat me to it.
So...what he said...

Didn’t ozero make a campaign speech in Berlin stating that he was a citizen of the world? Didn’t the Germans treat him like a rock star? Didn’t the UNITED STATES free Germany from the nazis, then the commies?
How’s that hopey changey thing working for the Germans?
You just got punked like the rest of us.

Obama’s not just refusing to honor the contributions of JFK and Ronald Reagan. For about 40 years the Cold War and the spread of communism was the thrust of US foreign policy and the US military. Several tens of millions of Americans served in the military during the decades of the Cold War. Beyond pathetic.

Ditto...and all of that.
Once the lefties realize (and they’re slow, so be nice and give them a couple months to get up to speed) that the RULES (whether it’s unconfirmed czars by the dozen, the burdens on free speech, the burdens on the press, and the unconstitutional diverting of tax dollars to private companies) that this president puts in place will apply to a future administration! Their brains will blow up!
Especially under a President Palin. LOL

Those of us who grew up in a very different America should probably be thanking God for giving us such a great example as to why we need to turn back the clock!
Up until recently I would have agreed with your statement. I felt that nothing that these people do over the course of four years couldn't be undone but healthcare 'reform' and immigration 'reform' change everything.
If healthcare 'reform' is enacted instead of dealing with a minority of the people voting for their own entitlements we are dealing with a majority doing so. As with Social Security, no politician in their right mind would promise to cut this entitlement.
Amnesty as a solution to our illegal immigration issues will change this country forever. If the estimate of 12 million illegals is correct, and I believe it is probably double that, chain migration will bring a total of 66 million people into this country. If our current situation is already straining education, healthcare, law enforcement and entitlement programs, imagine what happens when chain migration kicks in.

Good points! Actually, I didn’t mean to imply that we should simply sit back and watch the world go by, waiting until the next presidential election to do something. There was a poster years ago that said, “Experience is a tough teacher, she gives the test first and the lesson afterward!”
The last election was the test, we’re getting the lesson right now.
