Rush's enemies in the leftist media have come up with a clever but very shameless way to smear him.
When he was bidding for the NFL team, the media came up with such outrageously shocking but blatantly false quotes allegedly made by Rush, that his NFL partners were forced to reject Rush's participation in the deal. The media knew fully well that the quotes were false. Can anybody sane make a claim that Rush made a statement supporting slavery?
Having sabotaged Rush's business deal, CNN and the media are now admitting what they already knew, that the so-called quotes were false.
What if Rush decides to sue? If the case comes to trial, they will simply dig up hundreds of other quotes that Rush may have made in a satirical tone, and use those quotes to smear Rush as a racist.
Even if Rush can show that the intitial quotes in the media amount to libel, they are capable of digging up so much dirt on Rush, that Rush will appear as a man without any reputation worth defending, even if he was genuinely libelled.
OH HELL YES!
I’d rather he concentrated his time energy and resources on taking down specific targets, like Beck did with Van Jones.
Of course he should sue. Is the purpose of this article to suggest he cave and not stand on his rights? F that.
When and if it comes out I’d be willing to bet that whoever put the slavery quote at Wiki had heard a joke to that effect, thought it was funny, and decided to attribute it to Rush in order to damage him. These leftists, the guilty white liberal variety, are more racist than the most raging KKKer.
A lawsuit would make the OJ Simpson murder trial appear to be a joke; oh, wait....it was.
"Tortious interference with business relationships occurs where the tortfeasor acts to prevent the plaintiff from successfully establishing or maintaining business relationships."
And there is no "public figure" higher standard.
>>Did CNN air it in England? They have some tough defamation laws<<
But Britain is a leftist country, where they are not used to the hard-edged conservatism associated with American talk radio. Even the Tories in Britain would be uncofortable with American talk radio culture.
Absolutely.
Because this is a look at the future.
If they get away with Rush and they think this gives them a license, what will they do to the rest of us who who not have Rush’s resources?
Imagine that you are a general about to retire and you know Obummer, the Marxist now posing as a Fascist, is about to make a major mistake and you point it out....
Do you think they will let you get to retirement? Or will you get the Rush treatment.
Imagine you are a small town TV nightly news reporter and you uncover some great truth....
The Rush treatment right out the door...fired.
Look what they are already trying to do to Glenn Beck.
TV station owners are vulnerable.
It must be stopped.
Sue the shirt off their backs.
Yes.
Does he have a chance of winning a libel suit
Maybe.
even if his opponents dump a ton of dirt on him during the trial?
If they do that during trial they'd cook their own goose .. after all, wouldn't the trial be about how they 'dropped a ton of dirt' on Rush in the first place?
Otherwise, if he does decide to sue (and wins), the award shouldn't be a monetary one because that would only ramp up cynicism. No, the 'award' should sentence the defendant's to broadcast a full and comprehensive apology on their own networks -- in prime time -- on their respective networks - for three full hours - with full disclosure of their biased shenanagins as found within the trial. If they fail to do so then the sentencing Judge can and will impose a large cash award for contempt of court.
Rush is a public figure....he would have to prove “malice” which would be virtually impossible to do.
I hope he sues them. If he doesn’t, their journalistic malpractice will be forgotten and they’ll continue to do it.
If he sues, particularly if there are multiple suits, he might get so tied up in the legal system that he doesn’t have enough time for other things. If he’s taken out of play, his adversaries still win the game, even if he wins the suits.
He must sue the source of the material published in Wiki.

I think that’s a great start. Levin mentioned this on his show just a few minutes ago about the ‘suspect’....tied into the IP from the law firm who also smeared him, Rush, and Palin. There is a person who goes by the moniker ‘Wiki Investigator’ who is a computer expert who’s handling this. May even be a FReeper!
He should negotiate for a minimum of 5 minutes on each network that reported these lies as facts.
He should point out that any REPUTABLE journalist or news organization could have found out in 10 minutes of research that the quotes could not be traced to him.
He should point out that he was a national figure in 1998 and that if he actually said those things about slavery he would have lost his show right then and there. His shows have been monitored every day and since they could NEVER prove that he’s a racist, they decided to knowingly slander and libel him.
Making up quotes that somebody is racist is malice.
YES YES AND YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PATTERSON, BELKNAPP, WEBB & TYLER
Rush is a public figure, yes. He was slandered, yes. The 'malice' comes in because that slander was used to prevent him from engaging in a business deal of which he was wholly qualified for, but was derailed due to the slander.
That seems like 'slander with intent to malice' to me
His investment would've potentially returned, what, $300 million - or more? Suing for that amount could put the leftists like Sharpton and Jackson out of business for a good, long while.
