WEST OAK LANE - October 11, 2009 (WPVI) -- A would-be robber is dead after one of his alleged victims fights back.
It happened on North Street in Philadelphias West Oak Lane section early Sunday morning. Investigators say it apparently never crossed the thiefs mind that his victim just might be armed.
Police say it was the mans third robbery of the night. He forced the victim up against a vehicle along the street and demanded money. Thats when shots rang out - but not from the alleged robber. POW, POW, POW. Real loud gunshots. Aaron Wisher was listening to the radio in his West Oak Lane home just after midnight when he heard a man on his cell phone quickly followed by seven or eight gunshots. Wisher tells Action News, After that I heard somebody yelling. Like, you know, just like talkin trash. Like, Yeah, somethin, somethin, he got em, he got em. And I peeked out my window and saw somebody laying in the street.
He called 9-1-1 and police responded to investigate. As it turns out, the man who was being robbed had a license to carry a firearm, and shot the alleged robber. Police say at this time no charges are expected

Another victory by the good guys in the war on crime??
"...Police say at this time no charges are expected..."
Journalists regularly feel the need to append this absurd and meaningless fluff to virtually every justified shooting story.
Expect the number of these kinds of stories to escalate. In a couple of years they won’t even make the evening news unless someone catches live action.
A story to warm the coldest heart!
If I were President, this is the guy I would be having a beer with.
POW, POW, POW!
“Whether to shoot someone once is a moral and legal question. How many times to shoot them, is a tactical question.”
I hope the victim is grateful to the state senate and representatives from outside the Philadelphia area— because ours are the people who vote down new restrictions on gun ownership which is constantly introduced by the reps from the Philadelphia area!
” [robbers 3rd strike that night]”
You mean “Three strikes and he’s out”?
“Two to the body, one to the head, always makes the target dead.”
Just think about all the taxpayer money saved on court cost and attorney fees.
Illinois will never be safe until we get rid of the Daley syndrome and/or Daley.
Guns don’t kill people! Sight alignment, breath control and trigger squeeze do!
How many times to shoot them, is a tactical question.
The answer is: “until they no longer present a threst to your life and/or safety”. In my book it is iempty the weapon and sak question later. That is the only reason you carry concealed. (for self defense.)
The media will soon be calling the dead robber the victim
Lots of tax dollars saved. I think this is an effective money saving idea, civilian gun ownership.
Waking up to good news!
Your clue that is time to move.
Apparently three shots...
I thought it was supposed to go: "Two to the chest one to the head -- I'd like 'em alive, but I'll take 'em DEAD!"
