Too good to check: Rupert Murdoch interested in buying … NBC?
Hot Air ^ | Oct. 12, 2009 | Allahpundit

I’m going to say three words to you and I want you to think hard before responding: O’Reilly. Olbermann. Co-anchors.

No, I kid. Given the chairman’s opinion of Kayo, the only thing he’d be anchoring is the 2 a.m. edition of SportsCenter if ESPN took him back. Which, let’s face it, they wouldn’t.

Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp (NWSA.O) and John Malone’s Liberty Media Corp (LINTA.O) are interested in NBC Universal, according to a report by CNBC, citing sources.

Cable company Comcast Corp (CMCSA.O) has been widely reported to be in talks with NBC Universal parent General Electric Co (GE.N) to buy a controlling stake in the broadcast, cable and movie company…

News Corp, which owns the Fox cable network and local TV stations, had been seen as a less likely bidder, analysts have said, because taking a stake in NBC might raise antitrust concerns with the U.S. government.

Yeah, “might.” What are the odds that Eric Holder “might” want to prevent the administration’s cable-news house organ from being acquired by a guy whose most famous holding is the subject of now-daily White House pants-wettings?

Rupert ain’t no dummy, he’d be playing both sides.

Rupert ain't no conservative...it is/was Roger Ailes who made FoxNews what it is. People confuse FoxNews with Rupert...it's Ailes who built FNC!

Now John Malone of Liberty is a different story...conservative and fearless. He would be a better choice.

That's understandable. I had phone service through Comcast along with internet and television. But, the 1 year price ended, and my bill went up $40 bucks. So, I made the move to eliminate the cable phone. I still have email though!

The truth is that we need a conservative consortium to start buying up the alphabet news organizations and firing people in mass.

The names mentioned are Murdoch and John Malone of Liberty Media. Malone is very very smart and rich. He is one of the sharpest operators around. Anyone know if he is political at all? I get the impression he is apolitical but at least not a lib.

Is Malone conservative? I do not think he is lib.

He is very smart & wealthy. He has made tons of money off cable. Fearless and a genius.

It'll raise more than anti-trust concerns. They can't handle the parry and thrust they get now from Fox.

Someone please get Olbermann's picture when he hears this news.

Not slamming anybody, but why would he want to buy it, just to turn it into a quasi-FNC clone?

Think how powerful it would be to have conservatives writers - - writing shows for us.... entertainment conservatives would enjoy watching.

All of Hollywood writes for liberals - and alcoholics, and drug addicts and people who hate this country. They write to keep Jesse Jackson's view of American - presented as reality. In most Hollywood "entertainment" Michale Moore's idiocy would be the norm.

Murdoch could invent the a conservative Saturday Night Live... Murdoch would have NO competition for the half of American who are conservative. They would all be his on day one...

IF the deal goes through with Rupert - and that is a VERY big ‘if’ - it would have nothing to do with airing conservative entertainment on NBC.

Rupert already owns FOX. It’s not conservative, it’s broadcast entertainment.

If he bought NBC, the biggest plus for him would be a second set of prime time hours to produce TV shows for.

If he were to buy CNBC, it would most likely be to merge its resources and talent pool with Fox Business.

And yes, I would LOVE to be in the room when K.O. gets KO’d.

I could go for a good “Watergate” type show about now, so long as we got the same outcome. President Biden and a very scared Congress is beginning to sound like an interesting way to spend the next 2 or 3 years.

John Malone’s Liberty Media Corp (LINTA.O) is also interested in buying...

There is concern about, particularly in this climate, of the so-called Justice Department going after Murdoch on anti-trust witch hunt. But John C Malone, who is also on the right side of the spectrum, could certainly make Chris Matthews, not to mention Keith Olbernutz, and others all have tingly feeling going down their legs. Fear causes lack of bladder control, you know.

Don’t you just get the feeling that Holder’s Justice Dept. ain’t got much going for themselves. More likely put there to “cover for nobama and friends crooked deals and anything the brothas and sistas do” rather than actually going after any justice, or especially someone with the stature of Murdoch.

Am also becomming more convinced that we have seen nobama’s best shot and he shoots just like those gangstas on the Toledo bar video, lots of banging, damn little hittin.
