NFLPA to Rush: Get Lost

Well a new sport has emerged, call the "playing the race card".

Rush Limbaugh’s bid to buy the St Louis Rams has drawn fire from the NFL Players Association and actually I am not sure why. NFL Players executive director DeMaurice Smith (from ESPN):

In an e-mail to the union’s executive committee on Saturday specifically addressing Limbaugh’s bid, Smith said, “I’ve spoken to the Commissioner [Roger Goodell] and I understand that this ownership consideration is in the early stages. But sport in America is at its best when it unifies, gives all of us reason to cheer, and when it transcends. Our sport does exactly that when it overcomes division and rejects discrimination and hatred.”

he is going to back the liberals into having to make a choice between Rush owning the Rams, or the Edward Jones Dome becoming the world’s largest Indoor Flea Market (unless that is the current plan for the Pontiac Silverdome). The outcome will be quite revealing either way.

Minimally false advertising that a ‘professional’ football team would be playing.

Exactly. The Rams have lost every game this year. So if the entire team quit and Rush replaced them with the dregs that didn't make the cut he could achieve the same results at a fraction of the price. If you are the Colts, Broncos Giants, Vikings, you can threaten to quit. If you are the Rams sitting at 0-5 on the bottom of the worst division in the NFL shut up. If you are -112 net points for the year (twice as bad as the Detroit Lions) be happy anyone wants to send you a check.

At the time of Limbaugh’s comments, McNabb was the lowest rated QB in the league at that point in the season. It doesn’t matter because his comments were about the media and how they covered McNabb, not his play on the field.

So to be fair you are wrong.

This mentality is exhibited every time you want into a bar or a restaurant or a barber shop and the news channel on is CNN. It’s not because everyone clamors for CNN, it’s because of the INTOLERANCE of the lefties. We righties will just smile politely when we see CNN, but lefties literally go into conniptions. They will throw a temper tantrum and whine if they see Fox News.

This is where most of us here need to make a small stand & get active. How about getting an organized group to take this on? Also, how about getting a change from the news bias that we here on radio every 30 minutes.

Sorry, Rush was right about McNabb. When was the last time you heard any NFL pundit go off on McNabb, particularly his inability to win the big game? McNabb is untouchable, even more so now since Rush’s comments were blown way out of proportion.

I think that Rush was making more of a point that the Liberal Media was projecting super stardom on McNabb because of his color

I know & RUSH has told it 100 times that it was against the media - NOT McNabb.

Did he say Romo was overrated because of the press’ racial preferences? Remember Rush didn’t just say McNabb was overrated, he said McNabb got positive press BECAUSE of his race. That’s where he stepped in it. And, IMHO, he was wrong. McNabb got his over exposure for the same 3 reasons most overrated players get it: he lives near NYC (which makes trips to interview him short for most of the sports press), he plays a style they like (NFL press loves scrambling QBs), and he gives good interview. The sports press constantly felates guys with that combo, white black or green.

You see my point, right?

We conservatives are a polite lot. Lefties are crass, vulgar and often violent yet everyone gives them a pass.

Time to crush the NFL.

If they won't let Rush be an owner (co-owner)

It's time to stop watching the games, stop purchasing the products advertised during the games, start sending letters and faxes in protest to:
The NFL home office
Each and every team in the league
Every advertiser (indcluding your local advertisers that get on later in the games)
and you local Congress critter, demanding that Rush should not be discriminated against because he is white.
If they play the race card, we play the money card. No Rush, no bucks.

At the time of Limbaugh’s comments, McNabb was the lowest rated QB in the league at that point in the season.

Are you joking? It was after 4 games at that point! And he had made 3 consecutive Pro Bowls and 2 consecutive NFC Championship games. You don't prove anything with your comment. After the first 8 games in 2008, Brett Favre was the best QB in the AFC. How'd that turn out for the Jets?

Again, I agreed with Rush at the time about the "desirous for a black QB to succeed" part, but he was wrong about McNabb given his stats and accomplishments at that time. And love him or hate him I hate him and as a Giants fan I hate the Eagles and all Philly fans), he remains one of the best QBs in the NFL.

Although I think that McNabb is one of the better qbs, until he wins the big one, he is not the same caliber as Rothlesberger, Manning(s) or Brady. Neither is Matt Ryan, Drew Brees, Tony Romo until they win the big one.

That was exactly my point. Jim Kelly is a Hall of Famer yet choked in the SB 4 times.

The NFL pundits all want to service Favre, yet in 2007 he was one series from the Super Bowl and threw one of the most boneheaded picks in NFL playoff history. Favre holds the record for INTs as well as TDs. Yet he is a football god. With a healthy T.O. playing the first half of SB XXXIX, Philly probably would have won.

Remember, I HATE the Eagles and agree with Limbaugh on race. but McNabb is way OVER-criticized given his accomplishments.

Well, don't even get me started on Favre.

But I don't think McNabb is that special.

No, of course not, but that doesn't matter as regards Rush and his comments, the context, nuance is irrelevant, none of it is portrayed, characterized properly. The players and people like Sharpton are all upset because they claim Rush made racist comments about McNabb, it doesn't matter than J Lo, who has made actual racist comments in the past, had ZERO criticism when her investment in the Dolphins was announced.

More racism from the employees. Rush should buy the team and fire each and every racist from it. He’d have a winning team.

Maybe Rush just did this for fun ...
to get their panties and helmets in a bunch ...

Maybe he should buy lots of land and build a bunch
of golf courses together. And if the golfing doesn’t
work out - he can then build a community for all
his listeners to go to - and they lived happily ever after.
