Friday, an even stronger surge of cold air will come down from the Arctic, sending temperatures plummeting to unprecedented levels for this time of year. In Montana and the western Dakotas, temperatures will not rise out of the 20s Friday and Saturday which is roughly 35 degrees below normal.

Saw a “woolly” caterpiller the other day.
Big, very fuzzy, very black, miniscule orange bands.
It’s going to be a cold winter.

Hopefully next week the Congress votes on Health Care and immediately takes up Climate Change/Gore-bull Warming.

We’re looking at lows in the 10-14 degree range this weekend. Snow in the mountains.
Somebody let Crazy Al know.

Central Idaho had enough snow to give the kids a "snow day" off from school earlier this week. My wife had to brush snow off her vehicle on Tuesday morning before going to work in Pocatello. All the mountains surrounding the Pocatello valley are covered with snow already. The trees haven't even turned color or dropped leaves in many places. That is leading to broken branches as the snow accumulates on leaf heavy branches.

Me too, but I couldn't see the band because of his winter coat and insulated orange hunting cap.......

I saw a woolly caterpillar the other day too, and was surprised at the thinness of the orange band...but couldn’t remember what it meant...thanks for the reminder.

My kingdom (such as it is after taxes) for a snowflake!
In New Orleans it will be muggy and 91 degrees today. The forecasters say next week will be a little better with highs of 75. I don’t believe its global warming - it will always be hotter than #ell during the summer in the south :)

Living in Minnesota, I am reminded of an old Drew Carey bit, where he stands outside spraying an aerosol can, saying, “Screw the grandkids; I’m cold now.”

C’mon Rockies! I’m dying to see Obama show up to throw out the first pitch at a World Series in three feet of snow!

Well,...the cold air slids under the warm air which gets elevated and cools and the precip falls thru the cold air below and someone gets a nice ice storm...and those to the north get sleet....real fun stuff....
