Even as Republicans pummel President Barack Obama's health care proposals, some GOP leaders worry their party is being hurt by a Democratic counterattack: Where is your plan?
Republican leaders chose not to draft their own comprehensive bill, focusing instead on attacking Democrats' plans as too costly and bureaucratic. Some prominent Republicans now fear they are getting tagged as the "party of no," and they want the GOP to offer more solutions to the nation's health care problems.
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, a potential GOP presidential contender in 2012, said it's time for Republicans "to pivot and say, in addition to emphasizing what we oppose, here are our proposals" for health care. The two parties can agree on some important improvements, he said in an interview Thursday, but Democrats must trim their proposed costs.
Democrats, meanwhile, see a rare chance to go on the offensive in the debate, which has sometimes seemed dominated by fiery attacks on Obama's proposals.
"The Grand Old Party's coffers are empty when it comes to health care reform," Sen. Richard Durbin of Illinois, the Democrats' second-ranking Senate leader, said Thursday.
A new CBS-New York Times poll found that only 14 percent of Americans think Republicans have clearly explained their plans to change the health care system, while 76 percent do not. Obama's numbers were better, though not stellar: 37 percent yes, 55 percent no.
Aware of the criticisms, House Republican leaders have compiled lists of bills and principles that various colleagues have offered this year. But even the whole list combined doesn't match the breadth and detail of the massive Democratic-crafted health care bills that have

Bingo.
The government represents nearly 50% of every retail healthcare dollar. Medical providers lose money on almost every medicare/medicaid transaction. In order to stay in business they must make up the difference with insurance providers and the poor people without any insurance at all.
Get government out of retail healthcare.
Where is our healthcare plan?
We threw it in Boston Harbor along with your taxes and regulations.
Not that Nazi Pelosi or her Brownshirts are interested, anyway.

Right. At the end of the day, the dim bulbs will not listen to us. This is a straw man argument. But we should have responses in place - and we DO.
I agree with the post just above - they LIE again...they lie all day long about us...I for one am tired of that, for sure.
Jindal better watch out, or he’ll fall into their trap - when he doesn’t have to.
Dang, that's good! The Repubs need to use that one!
GOP taunt Dems: Where are your Olympics now?
HR 3200 is to health as stimulus is to General Motors.
Is much more need than allowing people to purchase across state lines, serious tort reform and deporting those individuals who do not belong here?
The is only one way to reduce costs. Health INSURANCE of all types must be OUTLAWED. Think about it. What would the price of gall bladder surgury be inside of two years, then?
The thorny issue will remain, however, what to do about those people who need health care but cant afford it.>>>>
well if said people don’t have all the latest gadgets that I can’t afford and couldn’t afford before I went to work for an employer who provided insurance I’d say find a way to help them. (I couldn’t afford those gadgets cause my priority was providing health insurance and paying medical bills for my family, I unfortunately have a disabled child so was locked into said insurance policy because of her, the state plan was el crapo, limits choices in hearing aides an such, which is why we stayed with that company while many of our neighbors were changing to control their premiums, funny thing is most of those neighbors came back to the same company a few years later)
Choice is most important I think. But those who truely can’t afford health care will be the ones without the cells, new tvs, latest video games, cable and the latest in video games, not to mention they probably won’t have NIKES, and name brand jeans, all of which I’ve seen on so called poor.
Let’s repeal the Health Maintenance Organization Act of 1973 while we’re at it.
UH...obviously, Democrats don’t know how to read. But, we all kinda new that.
YEAH....make ANYONE who wants a cell phone, car, or TV PROVE they pay for health insurance....THEN, we’ll talk!
...that and kissing Obama’s Arabic hind parts!
